Civil Engineering Intern - Transportation (Summer 2025) - ( 240003HB )

Your Key Responsibilities

  • Perform work on transportation facility projects and studies that include roadways, intersections, bikeways/trails, sidewalks, highways, interchanges, structures, and railways.

  • Provide technical assistance to the transportation team in areas of design, analysis, and public outreach.

  • Perform tasks that include research, CAD drafting, calculations, data management, quantity take-offs, and technical writing.

  • Assist with the development of deliverables such as drawings/plans, displays, and cost estimates.

  • Maintain adherence to project schedules and milestones.

  • Participate in field investigations as needed.

  • Prior internship/co-op experience considered but not required.

  • Familiarity with CAD programs and drafting experience.

  • Familiarity with transportation design manuals, standards, and procedures, such as the AASHTO Green Book and the Manual on Uniform Traffic Control Devices.

Education and Experience

  • Completion of junior year coursework within a Bachelor of Science (B.S.) Civil Engineering degree program from an accredited college or university. Concentration in transportation coursework preferred.

  • Proficient with Microsoft Office (i.e. Excel, Word, Outlook, Teams, PowerPoint), Adobe, and Bluebeam
