Johns Hopkins University Lecturer - 2023/4 in Baltimore, Maryland

The Whiting School of Engineering at Johns Hopkins University seeks applicants for a full-time teaching faculty position in the area of Electrical and Computer Engineering. This is a career-oriented, renewable appointment with opportunities for advancement. The person in this role will be responsible for development and delivery of courses in the Electrical and Computer Engineering curricula, including but not limited to electromagnetics, circuits, photonics, computer hardware, artificial intelligence, and machine learning. Opportunities to teach upper-level and graduate level courses, as well as to participate in curriculum development, may be available, depending on the candidate's background. Teaching faculty members are also encouraged to engage in departmental and university service and may have advising responsibilities. Extensive grading support is given to all instructors. The Schools of Engineering and of Arts and Sciences have a well-established non-tenure track career path for full-time teaching faculty culminating in the rank of Teaching Professor.

The department is conducting a broad search and seeking candidates who through their teaching, and service, will contribute to the diversity and excellence of the academic community. Of particular interest are candidates who have experience teaching and mentoring students from diverse backgrounds. Applicants for the position must have at least a Masters degree, or a Ph.D. (preferred) in Electrical and/or Computer Engineering, Computer Science, Computer Science Education, Engineering Education or an engineering discipline in a closely related field, demonstrated excellence in and commitment to teaching, and have excellent communication skills. Candidates with experience teaching programming in languages such as Java, Python, C, C , MATLAB, Verilog or VHDL, and experience teaching lab courses in circuits, computer hardware, electromagnetics, artificial intelligence, data science, and other areas of electrical and/or computer engineering are preferred.
