The Viva Insights team is looking to hire a Software Engineer II to work on cutting edge features by unearthing Insights from the vast amount of data. Our teams build delighting customers experiences that use generative AI at its core.

Responsibilities
Running a global world class service that is tightly integrated with mission critical productivity apps (Microsoft Teams and Outlook) with millions of active users presents broad and evolving challenges. We have complex multi-tiered applications running off distributed micro-services, handling billions of user interactions every day, generating petabytes of data that require analysis and transformation, spanned across hundreds of thousands of machines.
Our technical challenges are broad and deep, and our product needs to evolve quickly.
As a full stack engineer, you will:
Partner with our program managers and visual designers to build intuitive, accessible, and engaging web based user interfaces across a range of form factor surfaces, including experiences integrated in Microsoft Teams and Outlook.
Work on designing and building efficient back endcompute and middle tier infrastructure.
Work with experimentation and big data analysis to measure the impact of your work on engagement, customer productivity and wellbeing.
Contribute to our engineering systems (developer, monitoring and manageability tools) to improve your team’s engineering agility and our ability to deliver a world class cloud service.
Be comfortable dealing with ambiguity and a shifting landscape. Experience with Azure or other cloud services is a plus.
Be passionate about iterating fast, being data driven, learning from customers and getting the right design for our customers.
Find specific areas of interest to go deep as subject matter experts and continue to solve end to end user problems across technical stacks.
Qualifications
Required Qualifications:
Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or related technical field AND 2+ years technical engineering experience with coding in languages including, but not limited to, C, C++, C#, Java, JavaScript, or Python
OR equivalent experience.
Experience in full stack development, with web technologies like HTML, React, CSS, Typescript, Flux, etc.
Experience in object-oriented development, with C# and .Net Framework (preferred) or any other object-oriented programming languages such as Java, C++ or related.
Strong computer science fundamentals and proven algorithm design capability.
Understand efficient data structures, object-oriented programming, familiar with algorithms and have a track record of shipping software-based services.
Other Requirements:
Ability to meet Microsoft, customer and/or government security screening requirements are required for this role. These requirements include but are not limited to the following specialized security screenings:
- Microsoft Cloud Background Check: This position will be required to pass the Microsoft Cloud background check upon hire/transfer and every two years thereafter.
Preferred Qualifications:
Proven ability to instrument, profile, debug, and optimize code and resolve complex issues with distributed systems across multiple layers.
Enjoy learning new technologies.
Excellent technical, cross group collaboration and communication skills.
Hands on experience in delivering web experience on a variety of form factors e.g. tablets, phones, etc.
Experience working in a startup environment or v1 products.
DevOps Experience supporting production systems.
