Job Summary

We are seeking a qualified candidate to join our team as a Business Intelligence Analyst (Finance Data Platform - Data Architect) . This incumbent would be supporting our Caterpillar Information Technology team. with a strong passion for creating platforms that enable data ingestion and transformation that powers advanced data analytics, this position with our Finance Data Platform Team is perfect for you. A motivated, productive team is creating and executing the Global Finance Data Platform, and they are seeking an experienced Data Architect to join them. This team is making a significant contribution to the shift in mindset toward using data as an enterprise asset by enabling platforms that bring data to modernized data platforms on AWS & Snowflake.

The preference for this role is to be based out of Whitefield Office, Bangalore, India

What you will do

  • This position is globally recognized within Caterpillar as an expert in Information Technology and Data Architecture.

  • The role includes developing a data platform from the ground up to support the Global Finance organization to drive transformation initiatives. The individual will function as a technical leader, ensuring that the data architecture is secure and sustainable.

  • The Data Architect is accountable for creating the long-term vision of the platform, as well as delivering to the necessary projects to support the Global Finance Transformation Strategy.

  • You will be working with current and emerging technologies, and guiding teams to delivery. Hands on experience, excellent analytical skills, team orientation, flexibility, innovative thinking, problem solving, conflict management, and self-motivation are required.

  • This role includes responsibility working closely with internal customers (Business units, divisions, Digital Finance CoE, etc) to develop business requirements and drive them into the future state data platform as well as with Global Information Systems, and partner data platform teams.

  • Individuals must demonstrate creativity, foresight, and mature judgment as they anticipate and solve unprecedented business problems.

  • The position is challenged to identify problems quickly and correctly, which are not obvious. Projects are typically complex and integrate business issues and problems, multiple application solutions, multiple technologies across various architectures.

  • The incumbent solves problems by determining the best course of action from many existing solutions and works dependently with little oversight or direction.

  • Lead designing of all aspects of our data solution including artifact creation such as diagrams, playbooks and other technical documents

  • Lead architecture assessment and design for infrastructure and integration domains that provide core capabilities for the enterprise. Initiate and deliver to design

  • Design of end-to-end enterprise integrated systems that serve multiple business users.

  • Design and implement robust and scalable data solutions using Snowflake’s cloud data platform. Develop and optimize data models, ensuring they support our business requirements and performance goals.

  • Maintain and enhance existing Snowflake environments, including performance tuning and query optimization.

  • Ensure data security and compliance with industry standards and company policies.

  • Lead the design and implementation of enterprise data model and metadata structures for complex projects

  • Define which data is extracted and the rules by which it is transformed for complex projects.Develop and maintain current, planned, and future state architecture blueprints.

  • Ensure programs maintain an enterprise-wide view to support adoption of standards and practices and promote reuse. Collaborate with other members of the data platform team and financial services team, to evaluate solutions and gain consensus on technical solutions

  • Research, design, test, and evaluate new technologies, platforms and third-party products Work with technology teams to prototype and prove the viability of solutions

  • Facilitate planning for production implementation of solutions

  • Ensure alignment of solutions with Enterprise Architecture principles and guidelines

  • Research and understand new technology trends and products Provide leadership and expertise in the development of standards, architectural governance, design patterns, and practices

Business Skills & Methods:

  • Business case development, business process mapping, strategic planning.

  • Enterprise Architecture Skills- Architecture modeling, building block design, applications and role design and systems integration.

  • Program or Project Management Skills- Managing business change, project management methods and tools, etc.

  • General Digital Knowledge Skills: - Brokering applications, asset management, migration planning, SLAs, etc.

What you will have

Deep expertise in one-to-many areas including software engineering, security, data interchange, data management, network, database, servers, storage, collaboration, or other technical areas.

Minimum Skills Requirement :

  • An accredited, four-year Information Technology degree, a closely related technical degree, or equivalent experience

  • Progressively related experience of least 5-7 years and recognition as a domain expert is necessary

  • Hands on experience in AWS and Snowflake is required (Min of 2 years is must)

  • Top Candidates will also have:

  • Hands on experience with Snowflake, Python, Core Java, reactJs, spring etc.

  • Hands-on development experience in public cloud environment (AWS preferred)

  • Experience in multiple business processes or organizations and experience in multiple digital disciplines is also beneficial.

  • Strong demonstrable experience delivering product and/or enterprise architecture for enterprise scale solutions in public cloud and hybrid eco-systems.

  • Must have in-depth understand and experience in two or more of the following: massive real-time event and message processing, data lakes, Big Data transformations and analytics, IoT edge and cloud data processing, SQL and NoSQL data modeling

  • Strong understanding of Agile SDLC implementation in public cloud eco-system including environments management, test automation, peer review, CI/CD, resource optimization, etc.Must have excellent communication skills and be able to deal with sensitive issues, mentor and coach and/or persuade others on new technologies, new applications, or potential solutions.

  • Familiarity with ML and data analytics, data quality and data observability.

  • Understanding of enterprise data integration and analytical platforms (C3 IoT, Pentaho, Snaplogic,..)
