FirstService Residential Director of Food and Beverage in Banning, California

Job Overview:

We are seeking a highly skilled and versatile Director of Food and Beverage to join our team. The Director of Food and Beverage willplan, organize, implement and direct the food and beverage (F&B) services at the Sun Lakes Country Club HOA for its restaurant, bar and catering facilities. Reports to the General Manager with significant contact with the Board of Directors, committees, residents, guests, vendors and other staff members (including the Recreation Director and banquet scheduler).

Compensation: $85,000.00- $90,000.00

FirstService Residential will compensate the successful candidate in accordance with the posted range. The salary or wage paid to the successful candidate will be commensurate with experience, education, and specific job responsibilities. For positions designated at a client's property, the salary or wage will also be premised upon the client's directive. The base pay range is subject to change and may be modified in the future.

Your Responsibilities:

The preceding functions have been provided as examples of the types of work performed by employees assigned to this job classification. Management reserves the right to add, modify, change or rescind the work of different assignment positions.

  • Exercises administrative control and coordination of all F&B operations including staffing, training, scheduling, ordering, inventory control, meal and beverage pricing and equipment and facility maintenance and cleaning.
  • Formulates annual operating and reserve budgets to support the F&B operation and manages the F&B operation within approved budgetary limits.
  • Ensure that F&B personnel consistently maintain a high level of quality service to restaurant and bar patrons and prepare and conduct annual performance evaluations of F&B staff.
  • Ensure that all F&B facilities and services meet or exceed all applicable health, sanitation and/or safety requirements.
  • Establish reasonable rules and procedures to govern the F&B operation consistently and fairly.
  • Conduct regular staff and safety meetings and report and investigate work-related injuries.
  • Plan and oversee F&B services for special events and banquets.
  • Provide weekly/monthly reports on sales/costs/budget reports.
  • Fulfill other duties as are assigned by the General Manager.

  • Participate in open communication and provide feedback to management regarding operations, staffing, personal development, and operational
  • Assist with other jobs and other duties as necessary.
  • Responsible for supervising, planning and directing all outlet personnel on a daily basis including assigning stations, recording attendance, and conducting real-time coaching of team members to ensure service standards are followed.
  • Order supplies to ensure proper par levels including all beverage and food service item.
  • Assist in completing weekly and monthly department forecasts.
  • Submit and follow-up maintenance requests and equipment shortages.
  • Control china, silver and glassware inventory
  • Order, inventory and control liquor, beer and wine
  • Ensure uniform and personal appearance are clean and professional; maintain confidentiality of proprietary information; protect company assets.
  • Welcome and acknowledge all guests according to company standards; anticipate and address guests' service needs.
  • Speak with others using clear and professional language.
  • Develop and maintain positive working relationships with others; support team to reach common goals.

Skills & Qualifications:

  • Minimum of four years’ experience evidencing satisfactory supervisory and management skills in the F&B industry.
  • Maintain effective working relationships with employees, customers and vendors and resolve conflicts and problems expeditiously, courteously and tactfully.
  • Plan and oversee the preparation of meals for large groups of individuals.
  • Must gather, analyze and evaluate financial data related to the Sun Lakes F&B operation.
  • Effectively communicate both orally and in writing in English.
  • Ability to read detailed work, exercise confidentiality, effectively solves problems, work under stress and handle constant interruptions.
  • Effectively train and instruct employees.
  • Must possess abilities in reasoning, written and verbal communication, customer contact and multiple concurrent tasks.
  • Valid California driver’s license and proof of current automobile insurance.
  • May be required to occasionally attend functions and work a flexible schedule that will include days, evening, weekends and holidays.
  • Willing to work in other (lower level) F&B positions when the need arises.
  • Intermediate knowledge of Microsoft Office applications; including MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, Point of sale. Club essentials and Bev Spot.

Education & Experience:

  • High School diploma or equivalent, Culinary courses preferred
