Job Summary

  • Security Escort/Hospital Security Officer will be responsible for the compassionate, safe and efficient movement of behavior health clients between healthcare facilities. Officers will respond for clients requiring Supervised Escort Services and or Security Services at Baraga County Memorial Hospital. They type of service will be determined by Baraga County Memorial Hospital and the local Department of Community Mental Health (DCMH) and the Mental Health and Developmental Disabilities Code.

Job Duties:

  • Supervision of all individuals as assigned to him/her for escort.
  • Provide De-escalation techniques and aggression prevention strategies when necessary.
  • Assist healthcare facility in escorting the individuals and their belongings to and from the vehicle at both originating and receiving facilities.
  • Assure the accuracy and completeness of all DFPI and individual's contract paperwork.
  • Be responsible with all equipment and supplies stowed on vehicle.
  • Maintain current State of Michigan/Wisconsin driver's license according to provisions set forth by State and department of motor vehicles.
  • Help promote a positive company image.
  • Accepts other duties as assigned.

Skills and Abilities:

  • Knowledge of population specific characteristics
  • Knowledge of policies, regulations and procedures required to administer an individal's supervision and transport
  • Knowledge to supervise and document a person's behavior
  • Knowledge of common safety hazards and precautions
  • Skills in applying techniques for safe transport to and from facilities i.e. (De-Escalation techniques and strategies)
  • Skilled maintaining records and writing reports
  • Ability to communicate clearly
  • Maintain relationships with individuals, medical staff and the public
  • Must have valid state driver's license
  • Must be First Aid and CPR Trained
  • Must be able to report for duty when emergency staffing conditions arise
  • Must be able to drive in adverse road conditions, while supervising behavior health individuals
  • Must value human dignity, personal worth and quality of life of each Individual you transport
