UIC Arctic Operations & Development (UIC AO&D) is seeking an experienced and motivated Accounting Manager to lead its accounting operations at the UIC headquarters. UIC AO&D is predominantly operating in Utqiaġvik, Alaska and the surrounding North Slope, and is a wholly owned subsidiary of Ukpeaġvik Iñupiat Corporation (UIC). AO&D companies include UIC Sand & Gravel, UIC Science, UIC Municipal Services, UIC Lands & Real Estate, and UIC Car Rental. JOB SUMMARY

The Accounting Manager is responsible for overall management of the UIC AO&D Accounting Department, including accounts payable, accounts receivables, purchasing, budgetary objectives and monitoring, and required monthly reports using established Accounting principles. Assist in preparing financial audits, monitor financial and Accounting controls, implements policies and procedures and performs cost analysis. May also includes oversight of the UIC Shareholder Trust Accounting Department.

Responsibilities

ROLES & RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Supervise all UIC AO&D Accounting staff in conjunction with UIC CFO.

  • Responsible for UIC AO&D Accounting personnel changes, which includes but is not limited to: recruitment, training, evaluations, and staff utilization reports.

  • Review and approve/disapprove staff’s general ledger journal vouchers, payroll vouchers, a/p and a/r voucher’s as needed.

  • Responsible for reconciliation of all bank accounts on a monthly basis; coordinate with the reconciliation of inter-company accounts between subsidiaries.

  • Work closely with the UIC CFO on analysis as needed.

  • Prepare, maintain, and distribute monthly financial statements to all department managers.

  • Work with UIC Stock department on Shareholder Distributions.

  • Assist staff with coding and other inquiries.

  • Assist and coordinate with year-end audit between locations and auditors.

  • Assist with annual budget and controls.

  • Assist with UIC Controller in other projects and tasks as delegated.

  • Other Duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

QUALIFICATIONS

  • AA degree in accounting

  • At least 5+ years of relevant accounting experience, preferably with an Alaska Native corporation

  • 2 years of relevant accounting experience may accommodate for AA degree
