ROLE PURPOSE
In this new team, you will be responsible for leading the design, development, management, and delivery of comprehensive technical documentation across the entire IT internal estate. In addition to the creation of technical documents you will also be responsible for enhancing the IT technical information and documents for our end users, including user manuals, general overviews, configuration/installation instructionsand internal policy and processes, user policies and charters.
You will be an expert in technical writing, possesses strong organisational and communications skills, has experience redesigning production documentation from the ground up, this will also include networking diagrams, wiring closet schemas and cabinet layouts.
To succeed in this role, you will need experience as a Technical Writer in a tech organisation and passion for creating great technical documentation.
MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES
Plan, design, research, write, and edit a range of documents, including, tutorials, step-by-step user guides and manuals, technical specifications, training materials, user policies, and proposals, for both print and online media
Collaborate with subject matter experts and cross-functional teams to gather information and interpret technical information to create accurate, clear, and user-friendly documentation
Establish and enforce documentation standards, templates, processes and best practices across IT and adhering to industry standards and relevant regulatory requirements. Providing training as required to technical and non-technical users
Organising and maintaining a documentation repository, including version control, release notes and wider accessibility for team members and stakeholders
Conduct thorough reviews and edits of technical content to ensure clarity, quality, accuracy, and consistency. As well as making required updates and revisions
Analyse IT project requirements to determine types of documents needed
Assist in planning, drafting, and developing IT communications both internally to IT and our end users.
REQUIRED EDUCATION AND QUALIFICATIONS
Education and Experience:
BSc/BA (level 6) in the field of English or Communications or relevant in field experience
Hands on experience writing Technical Documentation within an IT field
Relevant experience within an IT field and working to IT standards.
Skills and Competencies
Proficiency with MS Office Products, including Visio MS Project
Possess excellent listening, written and oral communication skills
Meticulous attention to detail
Strong project management skills
Ability to transform the complex into simple concepts that are easy to understand
Excellent analytical and creative problem-solving skills
Highly self-motivated and directed
Willingness to adapt to different projects or changing project requirements, work with cross-functional teams, and actively communicate with stakeholders
