GENERAL FUNCTIONS:
Teaching responsibilities include coursework within the Humanities or Social Sciences courses offered by the College (e.g. Sociology, History). In consultation with the Dean, responsible for the supervision and coordination of post-traditional student-oriented educational programming such as the College's Incarcerated Education programs.
SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES:
Teaches courses (15 credits per academic year) in the Humanities or Social Sciences which may include on and off-campus, day and/or evening, and/or online according to the GEA contract.
Proposes class schedules and adjunct teaching assignments for the Incarcerated Education Program and other Special Programming.
Works with the College's external partners (e.g., Rochester Education Justice Initiative, SUNY Office of Higher Education in Prison) to offer classes at correctional facilities or other alternate locations in the College's service area.
Responsible for advisement of students in the program.
Participates in college-wide activities.
Ensures strong community oversight of the Program through the use of an active advisory committee.
Performs other duties related to the area of responsibility as assigned by the Dean.

Job Requirements:
QUALIFICATIONS:
Education
Master's Degree in a Humanities/Social Sciences Discipline (e.g., Sociology, Psychology, History, English) from an accredited institution required.
Experience
A minimum of three years of college teaching experience is desired. Experience working with incarcerated individuals in a post-secondary capacity is desired. (Candidates with less than three years teaching experience may be considered and appointed at the rank of Instructor and receive a commensurate salary.)
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
Strong teaching skills with familiarity in a wide range of instructional strategies and modes of instruction including face-to-face, online, hybrid, and multi-location synchronous delivery.
Technical competency with various computer applications related to teaching, learning, research, and general office software.
Ability to work effectively with community college students, college staff, faculty, the college's partners in delivering programming at local correctional facilities as well as incarcerated individuals and correctional facility staff.
Leadership and supervisory skills necessary to maintain and enhance our incarcerated education programming and/or other special programming.
Must be able to demonstrate a strong commitment to diversity and inclusion.
Additional Information:
SALARY AND CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT:
This is a full-time position at 35 hours per week. If appointed at the level of Instructor, compensation is at a rate of $50,865.19 annually. If appointed at the level of Assistant Professor, compensation is at a rate of $58,475.37 annually. Salary, benefits, and conditions of employment are as set by the GEA contract.
