Maintenance Technician 1 Water Resources Department Pay Range per CBA $17.50 minimum Bargaining Unit Non-Exempt, Classified Position Full Time, Permanent Monday - Friday 7:30 AM - 3:30 PM Subject to Recall, Evenings and Weekends Possible. High school diploma or GED equivalent. Knowledge of position specific tasks (i.e., water/wastewater treatment plant and distribution/collections systems maintenance, electrical maintenance equipment operations, etc.), ability to read and perform basic mathematical calculations, ability to follow verbal and written instruction. Ability to effectively interrelate with co-workers, contractors, and the general public. Requires strong public relations skills. Ability to organize and accurately document information and data pertinent to operations. Must be able to understand and follow County safety procedures. Effort involves moderate lifting, pushing, pulling, reaching and bending. Requires normal vision and hearing acuity. Manual dexterity is high. There is prolonged exposure to various temperatures/weather conditions. Exposure to unfavorable health/safety conditions is frequently present. Daily involvement in hazardous work may exist. Requires physical ability and personal mobility to perform duties as assigned. Must have and maintain valid driver's license. May be required to obtain a Class B Commercial Driver's License (CDL). Performs daily operation and fundamental maintenance and repair of all water/wastewater distribution/collections systems and components, treatment plants, sampling, and testing equipment. Operates locating equipment to identify/mark locations of water/wastewater lines and associated appurtenances. Inspects/repairs/maintains water mains, sewer mains, pump stations, valves, storage tanks, vaults, and meters to ensure system integrity and functionality of treatment and distribution/collections system infrastructure utilizing specialty tools and equipment. Performs smoke testing, flow analysis, main cleaning, and other routine maintenance and evaluation procedures. Operates a County vehicle and responds to various locations to read water meters. Required to operate a county vehicle and assists in the operation of trucks, tractors, backhoes, valve operators, and other special equipment utilized in maintenance of treatment and distribution/collections systems. Performs maintenance/repairs on circuits, motors, pumps, switches, heaters, appliances and electrical panels, etc. Repairs/replaces worn mechanical parts in pumps or motors and operates equipment in the facilitation of duties. Utilizes G.I.S. and other maintenance management software to store and track work performance.
