Plastic Express Maintenance Mechanic in Baytown, Texas

Job Summary:

The Maintenance Mechanic will oversee the performance and maintenance of large production trucks.  The incumbent will also perform a variety of clerical, recordkeeping, and customer service tasks to assist with the smooth operation of the organization.

Essential Functions:

Duties/Responsibilities:

  • Performs preventive maintenance inspections and service on trucks.

  • Thoroughly cleans trucks and truck parts, removing parts and reinstalling as necessary.

  • Oils and lubricates moving parts on trucks to ensure effective performance.

  • Records and reports damaged, worn, or broken parts.

  • Orders and installs replacement parts for trucks.

  • Identifies the causes of unexpected breakdowns of trucks.

  • Repairs broken trucks quickly and efficiently.

  • Prepares reports documenting work performed.

  • Cleans, organizes, inventories, stocks, and otherwise maintains shop areas, parts, tools, and supplies.

  • Coordinates with managers to schedule regular maintenance on trucks.

  • Collaborates with product manager or plant engineer regarding new products being added and modifications that will be required. 

  • Makes necessary modifications and implements tests runs; confers with product manager regarding test results and makes additional alterations to trucks as required.  Performs data entry and filing tasks for accounts payable, purchase orders, equipment inventory, and confidential employee or departmental files.

  • Receives, records, and distributes packages and mail.

  • Compiles budget data and maintains financial records as requested.

  • Copies, collates, and otherwise prepares reports for mailings, meetings, and other correspondence.

  • Performs other related duties as assigned.

Qualifications: 

Required Skills/Abilities:

  • Mechanically inclined with great problem-solving skills.

  • Works well independently and with others.

  • Good communication skills.

  • Organized with attention to detail.

  • Ability to work in a fast-paced and stressful environment. 

  • Ability to greet visitors, clients, and colleagues in a friendly and courteous manner.

  • Ability to type and use a computer.

  • Ability to proofread.

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite or similar software.

  • Basic understanding of office equipment.

  • Basic understanding of clerical procedures and systems such as recordkeeping and filing.

  • Ability to work independently and identify and solve problems.

  • Ability to organize and prioritize work.

Education and Experience:

  • Some vocational or community college with related coursework or equivalent experience, required.

  • Class “A” or “B” license preferred.

Physical Requirements:

  • Prolonged periods standing and walking.

  • Able to bend, stretch, push, pull, and move as needed to reach, clean, and service truck.

  • Must be able to visually inspect trucks.

  • Must be able to lift and carry up to 50 pounds. 

Position Type/Expected Hours of Work

This is a full-time position.

Travel

25% close proximity travel is expected for this position.
