University Hospitals Health System Instructional Designer II in Beachwood, Ohio

Description Position Summary The Instructional Designer II will have responsibility for the design and development of online, self-paced and instructor-led learning modules using sound instructional design principles (ADDIE), industry standard authoring tools, UH templates and the UH's Learning Management System (Cornerstone). The Instructional Designer II will work collaboratively with other Instructional Designers, subject matter experts (SMEs) and internal clients to develop engaging and interactive learning to help our employees be successful in their role. The level II role is primarily focused on the ownership of the full instructional design life cycle for assigned projects including updating as needed. Essential Functions Become familiar with the areas of technology specialization in compliance with guidelines, policies and norms of UH. Provide best fit technology consultation and solution on multiple projects of medium complexity. Analyze and apply trends and best practices in learning technologies and instructional design. Independently meet with Subject Matter Experts to update content for online, self-paced and instructor-led learning modules. Design and develop engaging, interactive online and classroom training programs on products, process, systems and skills. Create engaging learning activities and compelling course content that enhances retention and knowledge transfer. Create all training objects, tools and supporting materials for curriculum and collaborate with training facilitators to teach the material through train-the-trainer and teach-back sessions. Create supporting material including exercises, assessments, activities, material and media (e.g. audio, video, simulations, role play, games, etc.) that enhances retention and learning transfer. Create and update learning resources and documentation including project documentation and course folders. Review feedback from internal clients and incorporate as needed. Assess and determine the most impactful training methods for gathered/created content through needs analysis and consultation with the project team members. Identify opportunities for transitioning traditional training format to online delivery when appropriate, and designing the plan to make this transition. Collaborate with clients and technology staff to resolve issues related to technology use in teaching. Work on teams with CMTD and others in IT on the integration of technology into the classroom/distributed learning environment. Review materials produced by Instructional Designer I and make recommendations based on instructional design techniques and adult learning theory. Assist in troubleshooting developed courses in UH's LMS (Cornerstone). Answer customer support questions and monitor helpdesk tickets for the applications you support and develop content for.
