Nike Senior Materials Developer, Global Apparel (Multiple Openings) in Beaverton, Oregon

WHO ARE WE LOOKING FOR?

We’re looking for an innovative and curious Senior Materials Developer to join our Global Apparel Materials team. If you have a passion for Textiles and prints, this role would be a great fit! The right candidate will use their textiles knowledge, strategic thinking, and collaborative skills to deliver creative material solutions for a wide range of end uses.

This posting is for 2 positions within the Nike Global Apparel Materials function on the Innovation, Concepts & Studio and Men's Basketball teams.

For Innovation, Concepts & Studio, you will initiate and transition developments targeting key consumer opportunities in both lifestyle and performance business spaces. A strong understanding of materials and trims across a vast breadth of products is critical. Leveraging your creativity and technical knowledge (aka “Art & Science” Super Powers) you’ll discover trends and explore unique combinations of supplier capabilities to help drive revenue growth for Nike Apparel. Collaborating closely with material and garment development partners, you’ll help dimensionalize Nike Innovation platforms, curate best in class materials and showcase next level product concepts. For Men’s Basketball, this individual will oversee textile and print development for NBA Uniforms, Authentics, and Fanwear product. You will use your technical expertise, leverage athlete insights and industry trends to create innovative performance and lifestyle materials, as well as be responsible for on-time buy-ready commercialization. Understanding of material testing and problem-solving skills are key. This candidate will collaborate with a cross-functional team to deliver the most innovative and high-performance material solutions for athletes.

WHAT WILL YOU WORK ON?

You will partner with Design and Product Management to define, create, and deliver textiles palettes with a focus on aesthetics, performance and quality. You will provide a pulse on industry direction and bring new innovations to life. A strong development background in textiles and prints as well as an understanding of apparel product creation will ensure delivery of great product for our athletes*.

WHO WILL YOU WORK WITH?

You will report into the Global Apparel Materials Team (GLAM) and support our partners within the Nike brand including key collaborations with Innovation, Design, Product Merchandising, Technical Development, Sustainability, Sourcing and Manufacturing. You will work effectively within the materials team to ensure a thoughtful approach to developing new textiles and prints, prioritized in collaboration with cross-functional partners.

WHAT WILL YOU BRING?

  • Bachelor's degree in Textile Engineering, Apparel Science/ Design, or related field

  • Minimum 3+ years' relevant work experience in material development and/ or product development

  • 2 additional years of experience in lieu of a degree

  • Team player attitude and strength in building positive working relationships

  • Expertise in Textile and Print development (Knits, Wovens, Prints, Yarns)

  • Experience in reviewing print colorways would be preferred

  • Connection to trend and consumer insights. Ability to be creative and technical

  • Understanding of design and development process from inception through final adoption

  • Proactive problem solving and information seeking-skills

  • Ability to build a strategic plan/roadmap around key projects and execute to completion

  • Strong Multi-tasking skills and ability to move with agility through ambiguity

  • Exceptional communication skills, including strong presentation skills

  • Experience communicating and collaborating with global partners

  • Ability to work independently and cooperatively in a diverse group

  • Ability to travel up to approximately 10% of the time

  • Computer skills, including Microsoft office applications and Product Data Management. Smartsheet and Tableau a plus
