Nike Technical Design Lead of Global Fit, Sizing, and Grading Standards in Beaverton, Oregon

As our Technical Design Lead of Global Fit, Sizing, and Grading Standards you will leverage an expert knowledge of pattern-making, fit, and the product commercialization process from start to finish. This role will include evolving size and fit, with a focus on grading standards for Nike Apparel across multiple apparel lines or sports. You will utilize your advanced technical knowledge related to product fit & sizing to provide expertise on critical and complex apparel sizing and grading development projects. You’ll provide technical recommendations and support Technical Design and Product Development communities in all Nike apparel grading including standard creations, trainings, maintenance, implementation and governance. You may also partner with our NXT Digital Innovation team to establish standards & process with regards to size & fit.

WHO WE ARE LOOKING FOR

This candidate brings expert pattern making skills and a digital led approach. The candidate also needs to have a strong Product Creation and Technical Design background and be a strategic thinker with project management capabilities. This role requires the use of pattern making software (Optitex) and 3D tools & technologies such as CLO in addition to a strong understanding and practice in garment grading. A keen interest fit and block work as well as body data analysis is needed. Experience working with spandex knits is encouraged. Someone who is eager to embrace new processes, tools and technologies and be able to utilize data for analysis and decision making. We’re looking for a strong collaborator, communicator and advocate.

WHAT YOU WILL WORK ON

You’ll partner across the business to implement and maintain sizing standards, grading tools, and body standards for Apparel Product Creation. You’ll also partner cross-functionally to validate best practices and create libraries & tools in the support of size standards for apparel. This role will provide technical recommendations to create consistency of sizing and grading and to help achieve project concepts and global initiatives. You will also assist in training and mentoring teams on adoption of tools, creating solutions to support processes and invigorate cross-dimensional standardization.

WHO YOU WILL WORK WITH

You will report to our Technical Design Manager of Fit, Sizing and Grading and will work with a talented Global Standards team. You will partner with Innovation, other Standards categories, and Category Production Creation teams to establish standards, develop process and training content. You’ll also provide technical recommendations and support to the Technical Design and Product Development community and be at the forefront of adopting, adapting new tools and processes to implement across the business.

WHAT YOU BRING

  • Bachelor's degree in Apparel Design, Pattern Making, Textile Science or related field

  • Advanced (5+ years) experience in the apparel development process from inception through production, including but not limited to pattern making, grading, construction, costing, manufacturing, or product integrity

  • Expert in pattern making, translating patterns to written product specs and construction standards instructions.

  • Experience working with spandex knits highly desired

  • Ability to act as a technical resource and mentor others; lead initiatives and project teams

  • Demonstrated skill in problem solving and results orientation

  • Strong verbal and written communication skills

  • Ability to manage a high workload and multiple projects

  • Proficiency with CAD Pattern Design software (Optitex) and 3D software (Clo) highly desired

  • Proficiency with MS Office programs and Adobe Illustrator

  • Ability to travel 10% of the time including International travel
