Microsoft Corporation Senior Software Engineer (Multimedia Video Experience) in Beijing, China

Do you want to design, develop, and maintain user interfaces that reach millions of Bing users every day across the world? The Multimedia Video Experience team is entrusted with providing a robust and attractive experience to help users find target videos from the internet using Bing’s powerful search engine. We also provide the interface for users to interact with those results.

We are looking for an experienced, highly motivated developer who enjoys teamwork, is a great communicator across various disciplines (engineering, program management, support), and has a passion for building scalable, robust, and efficient services to power the Bing Search Stack. Key technology expertise includes open source and industry-standard HTML, Page/Media understanding, and a deep understanding of designing, developing, and debugging managed code . Beyond technology, the ideal candidate has worked and shipped in different organizational and product development models, using agile methodologies, and wants to apply best practices in engineering and organization by setting a personal example of excellence.

In addition, the ideal candidate should have a strong background in UX design, with experience in creating intuitive and engaging user interfaces. You will be responsible for ensuring that our products not only function well but also provide a seamless and enjoyable user experience. This includes understanding user needs, conducting usability testing, and iterating on designs based on user feedback.

Responsibilities

-Design and develop search platform-related features and solutions.

-Collaborate with the team to build a highly scalable and high-performance search stack.

-Work with customers and partners to understand user requirements and design features to enable rich search experiences.

-Develop and manage distributed infrastructure, release, and manage live services in production.

-Take ownership of at least one aspect of security, supportability, usability, performance, and accessibility of the product, and execute towards organizational requirements and improvements.

-Maintain and improve all service SLA levels, act as on-call engineer (approximately 1 week every 2 months).

-Leverage state-of-the-art AI techniques to build AI powered systems and solutions to achieve business goals.

Qualifications

-At least 3 years of working experience

-Proven experience in designing, developing, and maintaining user interfaces.

-Strong communication skills and ability to work across various disciplines.

-Expertise in open source and industry-standard HTML, Page/Media understanding.

-Familiar with at least one OOP language: C#/Python/C++/Java

-Deep understanding of designing, developing, and debugging managed code (C#).

-Experience with agile methodologies and different organizational and product development models.

-Strong background in UX design, with experience in creating intuitive and engaging user interfaces.

-Experience in conducting usability testing and iterating on designs based on user feedback.

-Passion for building scalable, robust, and efficient services.

-Efficient communication and collaboration skills.
