Citigroup Legal Support Lead in Belfast, United Kingdom

Team/Role Overview

This is an intermediate level role and you will be responsible for providing support to the Citi Legal team in managing the processes and controls related to various governance processes at Citi. This role requires a pragmatic, proactive professional with thorough understanding of the different Legal Teams within Citi. The overall objective of this role is to provide support and advise on processes to the global Legal Team, working within an existing team of qualified and non-qualified lawyers.

What you’ll do

You will be expected to contribute to the team’s management and execution of controls related to the existing governance framework in relation to regulatory netting and collateral legal enforceability. Responsibilities are expected to evolve over time as Citi continues to enhance its risk & control infrastructure, but initial responsibilities are expected to include:

  • Working across different Legal teams supporting various geographies and products to coordinate robust, timely, appropriate engagement by Legal in various risk management committees and governance processes;

  • Managing the execution of ongoing controls and continued monitoring of their effectiveness by relying on a thorough understanding of the applicable laws and regulations;

  • Taking part in the implementation of new and enhanced risk management infrastructure across the global Legal teams supporting various geographies and products and working closely and collaboratively with the global Legal Team (including technology and operations teams) to ensure efficient and effective implementation;

  • Supporting Legal response, contribution and feedback to regulatory, audit and internal risk team investigations on a regular basis; and

  • Providing advice and training/education for Legal management, country and product lawyers on risk & control management related topics, including expectations for participation in various risk governance and oversight processes.

What we’ll need from you

  • Relevant industry experience, preferably with some experience working in an in-house legal role within financial services

  • Ability to manage complex documentation and data with organisation and detail

  • Must possess excellent interpersonal and project management skills, as well as the ability to interact and communicate effectively with Senior Management

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office: Word, PowerPoint, Excel, Outlook

  • Knowledge and understanding of the financial services industry
