Southwestern Illinois College is accepting applications for the full-time, tenure track position of Coordinator Instructor in the Practical Nursing program within the Health Sciences and Homeland Security division.

POSITION DESCRIPTION: The successful applicant will serve as the coordinator and instructor in the Practical Nursing program. As coordinator, the individual will be responsible for the organization, administration, periodic review, continued development, future accreditation and overall effectiveness of the educational program/courses throughout the district. As an instructor, the individual will teach Practical Nursing, Nurse Assistant, or Nursing Education courses in both the traditional and computerized environment. The individual will also assess student performance, ensure faculty qualifications and collaborate with Practical Nursing faculty to evaluate the effectiveness of instruction in the program/courses. Opportunities exist for participation in professional development activities and service on departmental, divisional, and/or college-wide committees.

\ QUALIFICATIONS:\ 1. Registered Nurse (RN) in the State of Illinois with a minimum of three (3) years of clinical nursing practice. Diversity in clinical practice experience, med-surg, pediatrics preferable.\ 2. Master of Science degree in Nursing from an academic institution accredited and recognized by the U.S. Department of Education (USDE) is required.\ 3. Minimum of two (2) years of experience teaching as a clinical preceptor, college level courses, or in a practical nursing program is required.\ 4. Qualified through education and/or experience to assure proficiency in, but not limited to, the following areas:\ o Curriculum design\ o Program administration/evaluation\ o Instructional methodology\ o Fiscal planning/review/analysis\ o Testing and evaluation\ o Educational psychology\ 5. Strong communication, organization, interpersonal, and advising skills.\ 6. Background in administrative activities including staffing, long-range planning, quality assessment/performance improvement, and evaluation of staff, preferred.\ 7. Experience in accreditation activities, preferred.\ 8. Competency with applicable software systems (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Blackboard, etc.) preferred.\ 9. Ability to meet, successfully complete and maintain minimum health requirements, drug and/or reference checks required by college and/or clinical facilities prior to and throughout employment.\ 10. Shall meet the minimum standards of instruction established by the Administration and the Board of Trustees for any assigned courses.\ 11. A valid drivers license is required.

SALARY: This is a nine-month teaching position with the salary determined by placement on the base salary schedule. For example, the minimum 2023-2024 starting salary at Step 3 on the Masters Degree column is \$53,531. Voluntary overload teaching assignments and mandatory summer program coordination may be available, which can increase the annual compensation. \ WORK LOCA ION: Nursing Education instructional responsibilities at the Granite City/ESL/Belleville campus with district-wide clinical coordination responsibilities. Driving may be required to reach off-campus sites, visit clinical facilities throughout the region and to attend professional functions within the state of Illinois and the St. Louis region.
