Description and Qualifications

LifeCenter Northwest (LifeCenter) is looking for dynamic and enthusiastic team members to help us honor and save more lives than ever before. As a Clinical Communication Coordinator (CCC), you provide the essential management of a hospital’s referral for a potential donor, including initial response, determination of referral escalation or de-escalation, and ongoing updates. As you work remotely, you will review hospital medical records, transcribe documentation, and communicate with hospital care teams and your LifeCenter colleagues. Clinical Communication Coordinators help steward referrals from being donors with potential to actual lives honored and actual lives saved. LifeCenter Northwest is one of the 56 federally designated Organ Procurement Organizations in the country. LifeCenter Northwest saves and enhances lives by facilitating the recovery of organs and tissues in Alaska, Montana, North Idaho, and Washington.

LifeCenter provides all required equipment for Clinical Communication Coordinators to work from their home anywhere in our service area (AK, MT, Northern ID, and WA). This position has three career levels and LifeCenter offers paid training and career growth opportunities.

What you will do

  • Manage referrals for seven 12-hour shifts within a two-week pay period to ensure the CCC team is staffed for 24/7 coverage, including nights, weekends, and holidays

  • Answer death notification referral calls

  • Perform initial evaluation of all referral calls to determine if the patient is suitable for potential donation

  • Interact with hospital staff members to obtain medical information regarding the donor

  • Provide exemplary customer service to all callers and stakeholders

  • Route donor referral calls and/or record messages

  • Discuss screening information with LifeCenter clinical coordinators

  • Enter data of potential donor referral information into LifeCenter's electronic medical record, iTransplant

  • Coordinate and perform ongoing evaluation of referred potential organ donors

  • Assess information related to family dynamics and relay this information to the Family Support team to ensure potential donor families receive appropriate and timely support

  • Perform follow-up calls to support referral stewardship and management

  • Accurately complete donor records and/or chart corrections in a timely manner

  • Attend at least one continuing education conference/workshop per year

  • Collaborate with donor hospital staff, recovery partners, and LifeCenter teams to facilitate successful donation outcomes

    What you need

  • B.S. in Health Sciences or related field, or equivalent academic endeavor, or

  • Two – five (2-5) years of emergency or critical care experience in a healthcare setting or hospital, or

  • Two – five (2-5) years of knowledge and experience in the field of science, health, organ/tissue donation or equivalent field, or

  • Two – five (2-5) years of contact center experience, preferably in a healthcare related setting

  • Proof of COVID-19 vaccination and booster, or applicable medical or religious exemption will be required as a condition of employment upon offer. For those that need to complete the vaccination series, start dates will be adjusted.

  • Someone with a knowledge of relevant medical terminology and pathology and the ability to translate complex medical information into easily understandable language

  • This individual should be able to clearly communicate over the phone, in person, and in writing in English

This position is eligible for additional compensation to the base pay rate, in the form of Extra Call Pay, Extra Call Worked, and Holiday Stipend Pay

Where a candidate’s compensation falls within this range is based on several bona fide factors such as experience, tenure, and other specialized knowledge.
