As a Roadway and/or Maintenance of Traffic (MOT) Design Lead Engineer for our designated Design-Build Team, you will have the opportunity to contribute to one of the region’s leading Design-Build teams. Our team is leading the industry, achieving efficiency, creativity and superior owner satisfaction on a variety of exciting infrastructure projects including some of the region’s leading large-scale transportation projects. You will be focused on meeting project requirements and producing cost-efficient and highly coordinated designs.

Our Bellevue-based Design/Build Team is seeking a Roadway and/or MOT Design Lead Engineer to work on Design-Build projects. In this role, you will be joining the premiere Design-Build team in Washington state, working on various complex design-build highway and fish passage projects, primarily for Washington State Department of Transportation (WSDOT). Design-Build projects provide the opportunity to work in a large team, with a collaborative and innovative mindset, hand in hand with the entire design team and the contractor, allowing you to see your design constructed shortly after plans are released.

As a Roadway and/or MOT Design Lead Engineer, you will be responsible for roadway and/or MOT design and design revisions made throughout the duration of the Design-Build contracts. You will lead the roadway and/or MOT design team and be focused on production of final design plans and calculations, that meet WSDOT standards and RFP (Request for Proposal) requirements.

You will lead the roadway and/or MOT design team to produce the roadway and/or MOT design on highway and/or fish passage projects. Work may include preliminary design for a proposal, to final construction documents including writing and assembling design parameters and calculations, design decisions, design analyses, channelization plans for approval, speed reduction requests, and various technical memoranda. Typical activities may include performing highway geometry design including 3D modeling in Inroads/OpenRoads, providing detailed calculations, and producing construction plans, and technical reports and memoranda, as well as coordinating with both the contractor, owner, and other discipline leads, and mentoring and training junior engineers.

A solid working knowledge of MicroStation and Inroads or OpenRoads will be required.

You will provide mentorship to entry- and mid-level staff and have the opportunity to exercise judgment and make recommendations in the development and creation of roadway and/or MOT plans for complex, multi-disciplined design-build projects. In this role you will have ample opportunity for career growth as you lead engineering teams and support staff development.
