Your Opportunity

Operational technology (OT) is broad basket of hardware, software and services that detects or causes a change, through the direct monitoring and/or control of industrial equipment, assets, processes, and events. This market is accelerating at rapid pace as utilities drive their digital strategies.

We are looking for a talented and multi-functional Client Account Manager and Technical Leader to join our Operational Technology (OT) team to support the growth of the portfolio. The position requires requisite OT technical subject-matter-expertise, but also requires skills in client management, business development and project delivery to accelerate growth and excellence in the portfolio. Based in the Pacific Northwest Region, a key focus will be to win work, build a team and execute that work in the region. This will extend to key North America clients to facilitate multi-regional growth.

Your Key Responsibilities

WIN: Lead and Support Business Development Activities

  • Assist the Regional Business Center Practice Leader and other Client Account Managers with developing new work in the Pacific Northwest and western Canada specifically related to OT projects and capitalize on our already robust pipeline of opportunities in the region. Lead and assist with proposals and lead project interviews conducted by clients.

  • Develop positive relationships with clients in the region, earn their confidence and become their trusted adviser. Convert that trust to new work.

  • While the initial focus is to gain momentum in the region, a key requirement will be to support the growth of our team across all North America.

  • Lead and support the development and internal/external messaging of key technical differentiation in the market. This includes participating in local and national professional association & actively participating and presenting at conferences.

  • Further develop our OT portfolio of projects via Stantec’s program management team. Almost immediately, engage in leading technology-based work scopes in the capital programs team.

  • Actively participate in the leadership team regarding the growth of our regional and North America sales pipeline. In addition, support the growth of the OT portfolio in other Stantec business verticals.

DO: Project Delivery

  • Serve as Project Manager or Project Technical Lead for water OT infrastructure projects including Programmable Logic Controller (PLC), Distributed Control Systems (DCS) and Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition (SCADA) new installation and replacement projects for pumping stations, conveyance, wastewater treatment and water treatment.

  • Provide technical leadership for OT projects in the region and in other key client accounts.

  • Lead more junior engineers to perform master plans, design process data integrations, write control system engineering reports, and select OT System design criteria. Support delivery staff to plan, organize, and manage the production of project deliverables to ensure on time delivery, technical quality and within budget.

  • Support delivery staff on commercial project elements and vendor related issues.

  • Recognize when technical problems develop and initiate guidance for corrective actions.

  • Conduct work in a safe manner and promote health and safety within the office and outside of the office while visiting clients and job sites.

  • Conduct alternative analyses to support business case evaluations for project decisions.

BUILD: Growing our team & innovation

  • Supporting and lead recruiting new staff into Stantec.

  • Mentor and manage professionals to guide their career development objectives.

  • Grow our technical specialty teams in OT cybersecurity, vendor based expertise, OT specialty analytics, etc.

  • Be a relentless innovator to support excellence in delivery and winning work.

Qualifications

Your Capabilities and Credentials

Leadership:

  • Skilled leader and team player capable of building relationships both internally and externally

  • Skilled communicator in both oral and written communications

  • Skilled at building consensus and cooperation with staff at all skill levels and across lines of business

  • Skilled at inspiring, motivating and holding team accountable for delivery for innovative design solutions.

  • Keen understanding of business and P/L management

Technical Expertise:

  • Experienced in the design of OT systems specifically for water treatment plants and wastewater treatment plants or related industry.

  • Experienced in the design of OT System for pumping stations, wastewater lift stations and potable water pumping stations or related industry.

Education and Experience

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical, Mechanical or other Engineering discipline from an accredited institution.

  • Master of Science in Electrical, Mechanical or other Engineering discipline from an accredited institution preferred.

  • Minimum of 20 years of experience in water OT related infrastructure design projects. Large and technically complex projects for major metropolitan areas are a plus.

  • Experience in the management of a utility (client) is a plus.

  • Must have good driving record and valid driver's license.

Typical office environment working with computers and sitting at a desk. Field work may include exposure to the elements including inclement weather.

Pay transparency laws require employers to provide the following information for positions that may be in the following jurisdiction(s):

Salary Range(s):

  • $179,600 - $278,400 Min/Max Pay Range for postings located in WA

The final agreed upon compensation is based on individual education, qualifications, experience, and work location. At Stantec certain roles are bonus eligible.

Benefits Summary: Regular full-time and part-time employees have access to medical, dental, and vision plans, a wellness program, health saving accounts, flexible spending accounts, 401(k) plan, employee stock purchase program, life and accidental death & dismemberment (AD&D) insurance, short-term/long-term disability plans, emergency travel benefits, tuition reimbursement, professional membership fee coverage and paid family leave. Regular full-time and part-time employees will receive ten paid holidays in each calendar year. In addition, employees will be eligible to accrue vacation between 10 and 20 days per year and eligible for paid sick leave (and if more generous, in accordance with state and local law).

Temporary/casual employees have access to 401(k) plans, employee stock purchase program, and paid leave, in accordance with state and local law.

  • Washington state employees are eligible to accrue 1 hour of paid sick leave for every 40 hours worked except for Seattle employees who accrue sick leave in accordance with the city’s paid sick leave law.
