HNTB Project Manager II (Construction Management) in Bellevue, Washington

We are currently seeking a Project Manager II in our Bellevue, Washington office to continue to grow our Pacific Northwest Construction Services practice. We are looking for candidates with at least 10 years’ construction project management experience as an owner’s representative on heavy civil projects including bridge, roadway, transit, and/or rail. Experience working with the City of Seattle, Sound Transit, and/or the Port of Seattle is highly preferred.

Primary responsibilities will include:

  • Winning, contracting, and successfully delivering 4for4 (on-time, on-budget, quality, client satisfaction) on construction management projects.

  • Performing technical discipline tasks including constructability, schedule, and estimate reviews.

  • Overseeing subconsultant contracts and work performance.

  • Implementing and executing the firm’s Sophisticated Sales Approach, Sophisticated Contracting Approach and Sophisticated Delivery Approach.

  • Provides quality control and assists in resolution of construction issues.

  • Represents HNTB with clients, contractors, public, and regulatory agencies.

  • Responsible for the hiring, supervision, mentoring, professional development, and evaluation of staff.

  • Accountability includes meeting project revenue goals, timely and satisfactory completion of construction projects, assuring satisfactory client service, key field position staffing, and related management activities.

What You'll Do:

  • Responsible for development of the project scope and fee quotation and assists in the preparation of technical proposals and contracts in accordance with HNTB's Sophisticated Contracting Approach (SCA).

  • Coordinates project activities establishes priorities and staff to jobs. Prepares Summary Inspection Report of Daily activities. Monitors contractor progress and compares with the reviewed progress schedule. Resolves technical field issues, and coordinates with Architects and Engineers for timely and accurate responses to requests for information.

  • Oversees project controls, including checking contractors controls and coordinating schedules, reviews constructors schedule.

  • Reviews submittals for conformance to plans and specifications. Develops strategies with the contractor to create submittal packages that conform to schedule requirements.

  • Implements the firm’s project delivery plan using HNTB's Sophisticated Delivery Approach (SDA) on each project. Leads the development and the execution of the project management plan. Supervises and mentors team to overall project objectives. Identifies and resolves non-compliant work.

  • Provides interpretation and enforcement of contract plans and specifications. Develops strategies with the contractor to create submittal packages that conform to schedule requirements.

  • Confirms change order requests, develops estimates, negotiates costs, and writes change orders.

  • Provides cost control on projects and quality control within discipline.

  • Partners with Client Service Leaders and pursuit champions to assist with business development, building client relationships and pursuit efforts for mini-mega and mega projects in accordance with HNTB's Sophisticated Sales Approach (SSA). Works with the project team and marketing resources to prepare appropriate proposal and presentation materials. Leads proposal development and interview presentations for strategic, mini-mega, and mega projects to the client as well as general presentations within the industry and community.

  • May be responsible for the recruitment, hiring, development, and retention of construction staff, including development of plan for staff reporting, performance and compensation reviews, and succession.

  • Performs other duties as assigned.

What You'll Need:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Architecture, Engineering, or relevant degree and 10 years relevant experience, or

  • In lieu of education, 14 years of relevant experience.

What You'll Bring:

  • Understanding of construction methods, including standards, equipment, processes, and safety considerations.

  • Strong written and oral communication skills, including the ability to maintain good working relationships with clients, contractors, management, and coworkers.

  • Ability to anticipate problems and proactively develop solutions to overcome those problems.

  • Experience on alternative delivery projects, including GC/CM and/or Design-Build.

  • Proficiency with computer applications including Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, SharePoint, Bluebeam, & Adobe, mobile devices such as tablet computers, and CM software programs.

  • A valid driver’s license and good driving record.

What We Prefer:

  • 12 years relevant experience.

  • In lieu of education, 16 years of relevant experience.

  • Professional Engineer (PE), Certified Construction Manager (CCM), or Project Management Professional (PMP).

The approximate pay range for the Greater Seattle, WA Metro Area is $164,735.44 - $263,148.83. Please note that the pay range provided is a good faith estimate for the position at the time of posting. Actual compensation will be dependent on factors, including but not limited to, the individual’s qualifications, experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities as well as physical work location within the state.
