We are looking for a strong software development engineer who thrives in building scalable, extensible, resilient and highly-available system. They take a holistic view of tech architecture across the space and provide guidance, mentorship and valuable insights to junior engineers in the team. They act as quality gate-keepers and make sure that the team is designing, developing and deploying fault-tolerant systems. They thrive in ambiguity, understand the importance of team collaboration, moves fast, and has a persistent desire to improve how things are done. They will have the technical skills to design and build complex large-scale distributed systems. They prefer working on small, focused teams, have a product-first thinking, and love to pitch in anywhere to get the job done. They lead by example and influence the team with their engineering expertise and decision-making ability. They can communicate effectively (verbal, written, and listening) with a wide variety audience and are comfortable pitching new ideas. You’ll work on cutting edge technologies to build the world’s most innovative front-line support solutions.
As an engineer on this team, you will be given the opportunity to independently own driving improvements to our existing technology, while also designing and developing new products and interfaces. Your solutions will provide the ultimate customer experience. You should be somebody who enjoys working on complex system software, is customer-centric, and feels strongly about building a software system that can be operated at global scale. Key job responsibilities
Our technical challenges involve a combination of back-end software engineering, user interface development and business intelligence. As a senior software engineer on the team:
• You will build a customer facing product across the whole software development life cycle from ground-up in an entrepreneurial, start-up like environment
• You will design and build distributed systems, building front end applications and backend services that can scale to millions of requests, delivering an exceptional customer experience.
• You will provide thought leadership on engineering best practices
• You will help mentor team members
• You will have cross-team impact at Amazon-scale
• You will build software that scales effortlessly, has low latency, is robust and extensible.
• You will work with cross-functional teams including UI/UX designers, machine learning scientists, product managers, and other software engineers.

Basic Qualifications
3+ years of non-internship professional software development experience
2+ years of non-internship design or architecture (design patterns, reliability and scaling) of new and existing systems experience
Experience programming with at least one software programming language
Preferred Qualifications
3+ years of full software development life cycle, including coding standards, code reviews, source control management, build processes, testing, and operations experience
Bachelor's degree in computer science or equivalent

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $129,300/year in our lowest geographic market up to $223,600/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company. Dependent on the position offered, equity, sign-on payments, and other forms of compensation may be provided as part of a total compensation package, in addition to a full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits.
