Amazon Sr. Software Development Engineer – AWS in Bellevue, Washington

We are building and scaling new AWS services in the fast growing Cloud Observability space. We believe this is the right team and time for an engineer with a solid career opportunity in cloud technology space, ground up!

This position in AWS Application Observability Org will be a great fit for an experienced engineer who is passionate about building new Tier 1 services that are architecturally sound, scale effortlessly, delight customers, and are easy and resilient to operate.

One of our recently launched service, Cloudwatch Synthetics, is a monitoring service in the cloud Observability and Analytics space which provides peace of mind to AWS customers ensuring their application is always up and healthy, serving volume of customers. This is a foundational monitoring service that empowers monitoring of AWS itself. Currently this service supports Web Service Monitoring (REST APIs), URL Monitoring, and Website Content Monitoring (protection from unauthorized changes in websites from phishing, code injection, and cross-site scripting). Synthetics customer can create and manage modular and lightweight code, that monitors Application endpoints and APIs for availability and latency from the outside-in, enabling customer to troubleshoot anomalies by investigating load time data, logs, events, metrics and screenshots of the UI. Our next set of upcoming services and features focus on end user experience and enables developers build and release features safely yet fast.

Your responsibilities in this role includes:

  • Design solutions for complex and ambiguous problems.

  • Develop code for new and existing services/features in server-less technology.

  • Debug deep problems and improve developer toolset.

  • Innovate in new technology space and simplify systems and processes.

  • Collaborate with Product and Engineering teams to create simple. solutions that delight customers.

  • Mentor other engineers and influence the culture of the team.

Basic Qualifications

  • 5+ years of non-internship professional software development experience

  • 5+ years of programming with at least one software programming language experience

  • 5+ years of leading design or architecture (design patterns, reliability and scaling) of new and existing systems experience

  • Experience as a mentor, tech lead or leading an engineering team

Preferred Qualifications

  • 5+ years of full software development life cycle, including coding standards, code reviews, source control management, build processes, testing, and operations experience

  • Bachelor's degree in computer science or equivalent

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $151,300/year in our lowest geographic market up to $261,500/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company. Dependent on the position offered, equity, sign-on payments, and other forms of compensation may be provided as part of a total compensation package, in addition to a full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits.
