Oracle Life Sciences GIU, Cloud operations

Building off our Cloud momentum as part of the Oracle Life Sciences GIU Cloud Operations. This team will focus on product development, product strategy and Cloud Operations for Life Sciences while building out a complete platform supporting modernized, automated Life Sciences applications. This line of business is constructed with an entrepreneurial spirit that promotes an energetic and creative environment. We are unencumbered and will need your contribution to make it a world-class engineering center with a focus on excellence.

You will be part of the LSGIU Cloud Operations team working as a Principal Applications Cloud Engineer at Oracle India. As a key member of this team, one will use their experience to solve problems and implement new engineering and operational efficiencies that benefit the company. This individual will need to collaborate effectively with internal collaborators and cross-functional teams across multiple geographies.

Responsibilities

  • Experience in leading effort for deploying & operating cloud solutions, migrating Cloud applications.

  • Ability to identify opportunities to automate tasks & processes to improve efficiency in delivery.

  • Lead efforts to automate where possible, leverage the Oracle tools effectively, identify continuously areas for improvement, innovation and learn from other groups.

  • Awareness of critical concepts in DevOps and Agile principles with familiarity with deployment automation tools such as Chef, Ansible etc.

  • Solid understanding with IaaS tools like Dockers, Kubernetes, Terraform and Ansible will be a plus.

  • Awareness and knowledge of various tools, open-source technologies, and cloud services

  • Good knowledge in monitoring the production systems is essential using various tools like Grafana/Prometheus, APM (Application Performance Monitoring of OCI), OCI Log explorer etc. to monitor, build alerts

  • Experience in MSP (Micro Services Platform) and OKE (Oracle Kubernetes Enginer).

  • Good understanding of Oracle Identity and Access Management on UNIX/Linux environment (OAM, OIM, OUD). Having Implementation experience in Identity Access is preferred.

  • Experience in Administration, Maintenance and support of SaaS applications is must

  • Hands-on experience and proficiency in knowledge of SQL is must, Oracle Database / Autonomous Database is desirable.

  • Possesses some preferred Certification(s) is important:

  • CKA (Certified Kubernetes Administrator)

  • OEL (Oracle Linux Certification)

  • ITIL (Information Technology Infrastructure Library)

  • Cloud provider certifications - OCI (preferred) or others AWS, Azure, GCP

  • Experience in working 24*7 (Including Night Shift) shift model to meet the business need to support production systems operations is critical

  • Ability to resolve and troubleshoot the issues reported from customers during the respective shifts is an absolute need in the customer application production environments.

  • Solid understanding of Incidence management and root cause analysis towards problem management is a must.

  • Must have experience working on ticketing tools (Remedy, Jira etc) to manage Cloud operations.

  • Experience in Backup/Restore, Disaster recovery is required.

  • Have understanding of cloud computing concepts/technologies in the areas of SaaS, IaaS etc. like Compute, Storage, Network etc. to manage SaaS products

  • Hands on experience on Unix / Linux OS including managing / monitoring various processes, overall health of OS / File systems etc.

  • Upskill, develop & support peers through knowledge sharing, mentoring and collaboration.

  • Experience in Administration, Maintenance and support of identity Access, WebLogic Application and Tomcat instances on production environments.

Qualifications

  • BS/MS in Engineering/Computer Science or equivalent.

  • Total 10+ years of solid experience with strong technical skills in areas of SaaS Application Support, cloud engineering, infrastructure and operations

  • Solid grasp of Linux/Windows OS and its command line admin tools

  • Possess strong technical skills in the automation, troubleshooting, problem solving in the Windows, Linux server environments to support SaaS applications

  • Passionate about problem solving complex issues, ability to dive in and learn complex systems

  • Possess knowledge in Oracle RDBMS (Autonomous Database - ADB) is desirable.

  • Hands-on experience in Automation scripting is required like Python, and Unix Shell Scripting etc. is highly preferred – with attitude of building automation wherever possible as part of the system to eliminate the human errors

  • Strong experience in SQL is must, database tuning and additional DB skills to troubleshoot performance issues of the application is a plus

  • Possess and demonstrate strong written and oral communication, influencing/negotiating skills with the ability to communicate complex technical information in a clear and concise manner with “Can Do” attitude

  • Ability to handle multiple tasks in parallel, proactive, self-motivated, diligent, meticulous and organized

  • Ability to adapt to a fast-paced, changing environment and to provide technical skills support to the team with high collaboration, teamwork behaviors is key

  • Prior experience working in DevOps model, OCI Oracle Cloud Infrastructure & associated certifications is a plus

  • Ability to dive in and learn complex systems
