Job Description

We are looking for a Senior Principal Software Development Engineer with a background in distributed systems and cloud services to join as a member of a business-critical Engineering team in Oracle Health / Life Sciences. The services we build will be central to the success of Oracle Health to support our customers assess market viability of new treatments, bring these treatments to market, and ensure the overall long-term wellness and safety of patients world-wide. Qualifications and Experience:

  • BS/MS in Engineering/Computer Science or equivalent.

  • 14+ years of development experience on Java platforms, UI stack, Database & cloud applications

  • Experience with building services on public cloud such as AWS/Azure/OCI

  • Excellent knowledge of Java/JEE technologies and frameworks such as JPA, JDBC, Web Services paradigms like REST and RDBMS (preferably Oracle)

  • Proven working experience and understanding of at least one of the modern MV* frameworks (Angular, React/Redux, and Angular)

  • Understand and be able to create Responsive UI elements either by hand (grid or flex box layout), or leveraging a framework like Foundation

  • Excellent knowledge on frontend technologies like Oracle JET, JQuery, Knockout JS and LESS/SASS

  • Hands on experience with tools like Jenkins, Docker, Kubernetes Prometheus, Grafana or similar CI/CD/CM tools

  • Experience in scalable software architecture design

  • Experience working with large data systems such as Data Lakes and Relational Databases at scale

  • Experience working with complex systems and integrations between components such as identity, permissions or high-performance APIs.

  • Understanding of data structures and design patterns.

  • Excellent time management, communication skills and a great team player

  • Experience with massively scalable systems is a plus

  • Experience working with healthcare systems or medical data is a plus

Responsibilities

As a Senior Principal Software Development Engineer, you will be responsible for designing, building and operating applications, components and services that will range from big data technologies, distributed computing, storage replication to highly efficient data planes, to serve life science customers and advance patient care. You will have the opportunity to work on both architecturally broad and deep software systems engineering problems. You will own development of new components and features, from initial concepts through design, implementation, test, and operation. You will be responsible for ensuring that you and your team are delivering high quality code, following good software development lifecycle processes and driving positive change your development team. Your work will be used by some of the biggest companies in the world, impacting millions of patients in our goal to achieve better health outcomes for everyone. You will be a leader on your team, coaching and growing your junior peers in best practices and engineering excellence.

Responsibilities:

  • Architect, design, create and maintain the full stack (front end and back end) of customer facing cloud native application on top of Oracle Cloud Infrastructure.

  • Work with cross-functional team members from Architecture, Product Strategy & Development, QA, Sales & Services, and other Central teams to architect and design multiple services.

  • Provide technical leadership to teams of engineers working on frontend and backend technologies

  • Hands on experience doing Continuous Integration, Deployment and Monitoring of customer facing cloud native services

  • Work closely with stakeholders to create and review system and software requirements.

  • Foster good software engineering practices and drive high quality code standards including code reviews, static code analysis and test automation across the organization.

  • Lead the team in delivering and managing code in production at scale with high levels of confidence by leveraging agile methods, operational excellence standards such as telemetry, metrics and on-call rotations.
