What you’ll be doing

  • Provide technical support and consultancy in the design, development, and application of network automation systems.

  • Responsible for estimating the time and type of resource needed to support deliverables for complex, high impact and high value network automation projects.

  • Drives efficiency and scalability through the tools and automation framework within the org and from the open source community.

  • Identify network automation requirements and develop functional and design specifications.

  • Use devops methodologies and manage network using software.

  • Work with internal teams to set the pace and policies for automated functionality in the network space.

  • Work with and mentor Network Automation engineers and provide team leadership.

  • Write and maintain software to solve complex network management and monitoring tasks.

  • Write and maintain software for deploying and auditing configuration of network devices.

  • Write and maintain software for monitoring network health, including metrics collection, visualization, and alerting.

  • Write and maintain software tracking network utilization over time to assist capacity planning models.

  • Write proper tests and documentation for all tools.

  • Collaborate with other teams to design and implement tools that help automate end-to-end processes that involve the network infrastructure.

  • Integrate existing open source software tools and participate in those open source projects in order to contribute any new features or bug fixes.

  • Implement and publish APIs for clients to consume platform services in a consistent way.

  • Work with product owners to prioritize features for ongoing sprints and implement features based on service line demand, industry trends, known defects, and issues.

Skills required for the job

  • Strong proficiency in Python and experience with relevant frameworks (e.g., FastAPI, Django, Flask).

  • Solid understanding of software development principles, including object-oriented programming and design patterns.

  • Experience with network automation/orchestration tools (e.g., Ansible, Napalm, Nornir) and network management systems is a plus.

  • Ability to architect, design, implement, support, and evaluate tools and services with a security, scalability, and performance mindset in the area of Network Automation.

  • Understanding of IP Networking and it’s future direction.

  • CCNP/CCIE or equivalent desirable.

  • Ability to analyze customer’s deployed network technologies, existing playbooks and design documents to create automation solutions.

  • Understanding of RESTful APIs and experience in designing and developing API endpoints.

  • Solid understanding of networking fundamentals, protocols, and technologies is a plus.

  • Familiarity with telecom-specific concepts such as OSS/BSS, network provisioning, and service orchestration is a plus.

  • Knowledge to Design and implement NetDevOps processes and CI/CD pipelines.
