Job Description
JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Conducts audits without supervision using client data to identify errors and recover revenue
Produces claims
Reviews freight contracts, agreements, client deal files and electronic documents
Builds relationships with vendors
Provides senior level input/research on claims challenged by client
Analyses and assesses problems regarding client’s claims procedure and business operations based on appropriate audit concepts.
Performs quality control audits behind less experienced auditors
Shares best practices
Provides training of less experienced auditors and staff
Good understanding and knowledge of AR, AP and procurement functions
Proficient with Microsoft Office programs including Excel, Access, and PowerPoint (able to create pivot tables, queries, etc)
Adheres to the overall timing and deadline of an audit cycle.
Assists in the design of project tools
REQUIRED WORK EXPERIENCE:
Excellent IT knowledge and working knowledge of Microsoft Office
Knowledge/experience with freight related transaction audits
Minimum of 2-3+ years’ professional business experience in Accounting/Auditing related work
Minimum of 2+ years in a client facing environment
FUNCTIONAL COMPETENCIES:
Domain/Industry Knowledge & Focus
Broad understanding of recovery audit concepts especially around Freight/Transportation audit related concepts
Basic awareness of broader industry
Well-developed understanding of Retail recovery productivity
Deeper knowledge in freight related claim concepts such as
Collect should be Prepaid
Freight on Backorder
Failure to combine/master bill of lading
Inbound/Outbound Freight on Recalls
Familiar with recovery audit priorities for assigned customers
Data Analysis
Proactively finds and seeks information from multiple sources
Finds subtle trends in data and understands impact for client and the business
Must work with Data Services and Client in most Freight data related subject
Problem Identification & Resolution
- Takes a systematic and logical approach to problem solving
Claim Production & Quality
Produces high-quality claims of all levels of complexity
Participates effectively in complex vendor correspondence
Begins to develop competency in more complex claim types
Understands performance metrics and key metrics for their accounts
Recommends changes in audit processes
Provides direction, job shadowing and training to less experienced staff
Shares audit best practices with others
Audits without direct supervision
Supports the development of new audit tools
Able to QA peers doing same audit scope
