About the Role:

As a Deputy Watch Commander at Walmart's Global Security Operations Center (GSOC), you will play a vital role in supporting and enhancing the leadership of our dynamic team. Reporting directly to the Watch Commander, you will assist in overseeing a shift, focusing on the identification, assessment, and management of potential and actual risk events. You will ensure prompt and effective action while coordinating critical communications within the GSOC. In the absence of the Watch Commander, you will step in as their backfill, maintaining continuity and operational excellence. This role offers a unique opportunity to significantly impact our organizational safety and resilience.

What you'll bring:

  • Support Leadership: Assist the Watch Commander in leading and managing a cross-functional team during your shift, ensuring seamless operations and effective team coordination.

  • Risk Management: Contribute to the continuous assessment of the global risk landscape, identifying and prioritizing risk items for timely and appropriate action.

  • Communication Coordination: Facilitate clear and efficient communication within the GSOC, handling both inbound and outbound messages to ensure accurate and prompt dissemination of information.

  • Operational Excellence: Maintain high standards of operational performance, stepping in as the Watch Commander's backfill when needed to ensure uninterrupted leadership and decision-making.

  • Reporting and Updates: Provide detailed and timely updates to senior leadership and key stakeholders on risk-related matters, ensuring they are informed and engaged in the decision-making process.

  • Effective Leadership: Strong ability to support and enhance team leadership, with a calm and composed demeanor under pressure.

  • Communication Skills: Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to convey critical information clearly, urgently and confidently to a variety of audiences.

  • Rapid Assessment: Skilled in quick and accurate critical thinking, with the ability to assess and address risks efficiently.

  • Decisive Action: Confidence in making informed decisions swiftly, with a focus on maintaining operational effectiveness.

  • Relationship Management: Strong ability to build and manage relationships, ensuring effective team coordination and collaboration.

Preferred Qualifications :

  • Proven GSOC Experience: Demonstrated experience in leading or working within a Global Security Operations Center (GSOC) or a similar complex, highly dynamic environment.

  • Proven Communications Experience: Solid background in crafting and disseminating critical communications to a variety of audiences in a fast paced environment.

  • Relevant Academic Credentials: Bachelor's or Master's degree in Security Management, Safety, Emergency Management, Risk Management, or a related field pertinent to global retail operations.

  • International Experience: Hands-on experience with security, safety, or risk management in international markets, showcasing the ability to navigate diverse and complex global environments.

  • Foreign Language Skills: Proficiency in key foreign languages relevant to Walmart, such as Chinese (Mandarin), French, Spanish, etc.

The annual salary range for this position is $90,000.00-$180,000.00

Additional compensation includes annual or quarterly performance bonuses.
