Position Summary and Responsibilities

Working from your home office within Arkansas, the High School Principal will implement the proven Connections Academy curriculum, develop and implement policies, protocols, programs, and budgets in a manner that promotes the educational development of each student and the professional development of each staff member. The High School Principal reports to the School Leader and works collaboratively with a K-8 Grade Principals and Assistant Principals to support the success of the overall school including school improvement planning.

Other key responsibilities include the following:

  • Supervise all high school staff either directly or indirectly through Assistant Principals, Managers, and Master Teachers;

  • Responsible for high school operation protocols to include summer school and graduation;

  • Conceptualize the broad goals of the school and school improvement plans accordingly to ensure that procedures and schedules are implemented to carry out the total high school program;

  • Ensure that high school staff exhibits and maintains a high level of professionalism, instructional support and customer service;

  • Ensure the academic success of individual students by utilizing all levels of academic support available including an Escalation Action Plan and interventions for struggling students;

  • Systemically maintain a high level of communication with parents to ensure student success, deliver program information and address individual student needs;

  • Manage student enrollment to include student/Learning Coach startup tasks, student flags, the Entrance Agreement, and placement in proper courses in conjunction with the Manager of Counseling;

  • Manage student withdrawals to include dropout prevention, intervention, recovery, and truancy as required by local and state laws;

  • Stay current on the state’s policies, procedures and legislation, including specific special education procedures, etc.;

  • Provide regular written and verbal reports and updates, as well as maintaining a high level of communication with other appropriate Connections Academy staff;

  • Assist teaching staff with implementing any program changes and/or new software application introductions;

  • Exhibit high quality communication with all Arkansas Connections Academy staff, students and families;

  • Oversee high school communication plan to include newsletter production, asynchronous and synchronous student contacts, hub meetings, and surveys;

  • Handle any problems escalated by Administrative Assistants, Assistant Principals, Managers, Master Teachers, parents, and teachers;

  • Oversee the implementation and coordination of state standardized testing process in collaboration with the Testing Manager, and ensure high student participation rates;

  • Provide assistance to families in need of additional support to encourage a high level of participation in school;

  • Participate in student recruitment efforts including in-state trips, presentations, Q & A sessions and responding to the press;

  • Communicate with parent Community Coordinators to suggest social activities, relevant field trips for students and school outreach activities;

  • Cultivate virtual methods of creating and maintaining a “virtual school community”;

  • Ensure that the Career Ladder system is utilized to provide teachers leadership opportunities and advance the mission and vision of the school; and

  • All other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Arkansas administrative credential required

  • Minimum of 5 years administrative or management experience in a school

  • Strong leadership qualities and a commitment to goal directed management and accountability

  • An interest in advancing educational delivery through leveraging technology in every aspect of instructional delivery and school management

  • Advanced degree is preferred

  • Excellent communication skills, both oral and written

  • Customer focused approach

  • Flexible

  • Demonstrated ability to work well in fast paced environment

  • Team player

  • Technologically proficient (especially with Microsoft Office products and Google Suite)

  • Ability to travel occasionally

  • Ability to work remotely
