Description
We are offering an exciting opportunity for a Controller in Berkeley, California. In this role, you will be tasked with utilizing various accounting software systems, managing financial services, and maintaining customer relations. Your primary responsibilities include overseeing accounting functions, ensuring the accuracy of Accounts Payable (AP) and Accounts Receivable (AR), and auditing processes.
Responsibilities:
Oversee all accounting functions, ensuring efficient monthly and annual closing processes.
Establish and manage effective accounts payable and receivable operations.
Collaborate on the selection and implementation of accounting and financial software systems.
Lead the annual external audit process, ensuring compliance with audit requirements and maintaining necessary documentation.
Develop and document business processes and accounting policies to reinforce internal controls.
Manage cost accounting, including setting standards for materials and labor, and analyze manufacturing costs to improve efficiency and transparency.
Provide accurate and timely financial reports for internal and external stakeholders to support decision-making.
Assist with product pricing decisions and identify cost-saving opportunities.
Coordinate with external tax advisors to ensure accurate and timely tax filings.
Requirements
7+ years of experience in general accounting, cost accounting, financial operations, or strategic finance within a manufacturing company, with at least 2 years as a Controller.
CPA with deep knowledge of GAAP, specifically for manufacturing businesses.
Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Economics, Mathematics, or a related technical field.
Proven experience in the manufacturing industry, particularly in cost accounting and inventory management.
Advanced proficiency in accounting software.
Experience working at a Big 4 accounting firm.
Expertise in setting up accounting infrastructure in a manufacturing setting.
Excellent communication and leadership abilities.
Strong analytical skills with attention to detail.
Experience with SQL and developing BI dashboards is a plus.
Highly organized, able to work under pressure and meet deadlines.
Adaptability in dynamic environments.
Interest in working in a startup or high-growth company.
