Whitsons Culinary Group Director of Facilities - Multiple Locations in Berkely, Illinois

SUMMARY: This position will be responsible for locations in Edison NJ, Berkeley Il, and Islandia NY. Frequent travel will be required. The Director of Facilities is responsible for the planning, organizing and directing the maintenance, repair and alteration of company buildings and grounds; serving as the Lead in planning and developing facilities and new construction; ensuring that jobs are completed efficiently and within regulatory guidelines and projected deadlines. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS, RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES: * Responsible for preparing and managing the annual budgets for the maintenance, grounds and custodial departments; and ensuring optimal utilization of personnel and other resources. * Collaborates with others) for the purpose of implementing and maintaining services and/or programs. * Coordinates schedules and special event operations for the purpose of ensuring required facilities preparation. * Develops long and short range maintenance plans/programs (e.g. emergency response plans, energy management plans, annual budget, etc.) for the purpose of ensuring that district resources are effectively utilized. * Directs projects (i.e., site repairs/construction, preventive maintenance, etc.) for the purpose of ensuring completion within established time frames, project design and budget. Inspects new construction, repair work, projects, equipment, work orders, daily maintenance and supplies for the purpose of ensuring that jobs are completed efficiently; specifications for major capital improvements are within local/state/federal regulations; and approving inspection reports and payment requests. * Monitors fund balances of assigned programs and related financial activity for the purpose of ensuring that expenses are within budget limits and/or fiscal practices are followed. * Participates in meetings, workshops and seminars for the purpose of conveying and/or gathering information required to perform functions. * Performs other related duties, as assigned, for the purpose of ensuring the efficient and effective functioning of the work unit. Performs personnel functions (e.g. interviewing, evaluating, supervising, etc.) for the purpose of maintaining adequate staffing, enhancing productivity of personnel and achieving objectives within budget. * Presents information for the purpose of communicating information, gaining feedback and ensuring adherence to established internal controls. * Recommends new hires, promotions, termination and transfers for the purpose of maintaining staffing needs and productivity of the work force. * Researches new products, laws, regulations, etc., for the purpose of recommending purchases, contracts and maintaining districtwide services GOAL To proactively service and maintain all equipment and building systems so there is ZERO downtime OBJECTIVE To develop proactive maintenance schedule for all systems and processes equipment. To accomplish this we need to: * Develop detailed maintenance schedules for all systems and equipment in the building * Maintain a supply of all critical parts in house * Develop emergency plans for all potential catastrophic failures * Cross train all mechanics so each can respond in an emergency * Identify which processes should be outsourced * Cross train and certify all personnel to perform maintenance and repairs in house REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS AND COMPETENCIES: Education: * Associate Degree required * Bachelor’s Degree preferred Certifications: * TBD Computer Skills: * Proficient with all computer applications in order to perform the job * Knowledge of warehouse management systems; inventory control Other Qualifications, Experience and Competencies: * 10 years’ experience in Facilities Management required. * Working knowledge of building maintenance, building systems and facility upkeep. Lifting while turning side to side is sometimes necessary. * Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision and the ability to adjust focus. Position sometimes requires extended hours including evenings and/or weekends, travel to multiple work sites and out-of-state travel. WORK ENVIRONMENT: * The work is performed primarily in a manufacturing and warehouse environment. * Work requires movement in and out of store rooms, near heavy machinery and freezers. * Exposure to extreme temperatures (hot and cold) due to cooking and refrigeration equipment. * The noise level in the work environment is moderate to loud.
