Position Purpose

This position will establish, maintain, foster and grow potential relationships with business owners in the Southeast Michigan market that contribute to the growth of the business lending portfolio. Developed skills in sales, relationship management and communication are critical for success in this role.

Essential Duties

  • Prospect and pursue new business relationships by promoting and selling appropriate Credit Union business lending products and services. Maintain solid reputation of the credit union with members, prospects, referral sources, CUSO and the community as a whole.

  • Oversee and maintain relationships with existing members to ensure needs of member are met while ensuring undue risk to credit union is avoided. Act in an advisory capacity with respect to member's financial and operational needs.

  • Maintain working knowledge of Vibe's Member Business Loan Policy and appropriate state and federal regulations to ensure all lending program decisions are compliant with regulatory and legal requirements.

  • Interview loan applicants and analyze applicant's financial status, credit history, banking status and other relevant information to determine feasibility of getting potential loan approved. Applicants deemed worthy of approval to be referred to Commercial Alliance for decisioning. Ensure loans approved are properly documented and prepared for closing, working with CUSO.

  • Upon review of participation opportunities, provide senior management relevant information on potential loans deals (structure, terms, purpose, strengths, weaknesses, mitigation efforts) while offering recommendation on credit worthiness of applicants and suggested participation levels.

  • Identify problem loans and, in conjunction with CUSO, work to establish agreed upon workout terms that benefit both the member and the credit union/CUSO.

  • Other duties may be assigned

    Education/Experience

  • Bachelor's Degree in relevant field or Equivalent Work History

  • Minimum five years of Commercial Lending experience

    Skills/Abilities

  • Professional, well-developed interpersonal, speaking and writing skills for communicating with business prospects, members, co-workers, CUSO.

  • Demonstrated ability to sell

  • Thorough knowledge of the financial industry, financial data, commercial lending underwriting and relevant laws/regulations

  • Proactive and motivated with ability to plan, organize and monitor activities to priorities.

  • High ethical standards and personal integrity to build trust and credibility within the communities we operate
