We’re expanding our Commercial Segment and seeking to hire a Credit Analyst. This role will contribute to growth, profitability, and cash flow by establishing and managing customer credit limits to support sales, while minimizing risk and ensuring compliance with payment terms.
This position will sit onsite full-time New Haven or Berlin, CT.
What you will be doing
Evaluate, establish, and manage credit limits for new and existing customers in line with company guidelines.
Oversee a portfolio of $25M-$35M, managing collections and handling past-due balances in an assigned territory.
Make decisions to hold or release customer orders placed on credit hold.
Prepare and secure customer account balances through lien/bond placement, joint checks, Uniform Commercial Code/Personal Guarantee documentation.
Identify accounts requiring third-party collection or legal action, providing support to collection agencies as needed.
Build and maintain relationships with customers and coordinate with Sales and factories to resolve issues.
Address unapplied receipts, short-paid invoices, and chargebacks to maintain accurate accounts.
Handle customer complaints related to billing or service and coordinate with relevant departments to resolve service issues.
Maintain accurate customer information in the Enterprise software, including account data, billing address, credit limit, and payment terms.
Reconcile transactions to ensure accurate accounts receivable balances and assist with internal and external audits (e.g., Ernst & Young).
Generate monthly credit and accounts receivable reports for senior management.
Negotiate payment terms and programs with delinquent customers.
Undertake special projects and perform additional duties as assigned by the Credit Manager.
What we are looking for
Must have a minimum of 2 years of work experience in the field.
Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (Outlook, Word, PowerPoint, Excel) and the ability to quickly learn in-house ERP applications.
Knowledge of liens, bonds, and familiarity with the building trade or similar industries.
Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to interact across all levels of personnel.
Excellent collection, analytical, and negotiation skills with extensive knowledge of commercial credit processes and collection laws.
Effective written and verbal communication skills.
Problem-solving and analytical skills, with the ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment.
Preferred Credentials:
Bachelor of Arts Degree in Finance or Accounting.
