Clinical Laboratory Experience

Hours:

Mid-Nights

8 hours per week/16 hours per pay period

Registry - Every third weekend required with additional hours as needed.

Hours: 11:00pm-7:30am

About the Job

In this role, the QA Processing Clerk receives and distributes specimens to the appropriate laboratory section. Processes and prepares specimens for testing and send out. Produces reports for faxing or delivery as needed and communicates appropriate information to the health care team. Ensure accurate registration and placement of test orders with all information required.

What you'll do

  • Operations . Performs contract management and LIS registrations. Maintains all required documentation. Places patient orders accurately. Identifies each patient accurately by verifying date of birth, spelling of last and first name. Labels all specimens correctly. Accurately receives specimens sent/brought to the laboratory, processing them in the most appropriate manner for the department or shift assigned. Prepares all specimens for send out to Reference Laboratories. Works actively to instill and maintain cost prevention and cost containment. Assesses the acceptability of the specimens sent/brought to the laboratory.

  • Customer Service . Creates a caring and healing environment that keeps the patient and family at the center of care. Establishes, maintains, and improves strong positive relationships with the medical staff, the public, other Loyola Medicine departments and own department staff. Answers telephone promptly (within 3 rings) and handles all calls with courtesy and efficiency. Provides appropriate results and delivers accurate messages regarding specimen collection and processing.

  • Reporting . Prints all applicable computer reports and distributes to appropriate areas or offices. Reviews computer reports, resolves any problems and makes appropriate corrections.

  • Materials Management. Maintains adequate supply levels for assigned areas.

  • Quality and Compliance . Maintains a safe environment following hospital policies and procedures, performs required safety checks. Maintains a high level of quality assurance. Reports all quality concerns according to policy. Meets population specific and all other competencies according to department requirements.
