Certification/License:

  • Maine Certification as a K-8 Teacher (020).

Education:

  • Bachelors from an accredited college or university in education discipline applicable to teaching assignment.

PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:1. Provides learning opportunities in one or more of the following areas: reading, language arts, social studies,mathematics, science, art, health, physical education, music and citizenship to students using the curriculum adopted bythe District.2. Develops lesson plans and instructional materials to provide customized, small and large group instruction.3. Establishes and maintains standards of student behavior needed to create a classroom atmosphere conducive tolearning.4. Regularly assesses each student’s academic and social growth, maintains appropriate and timely records, and preparesprogress reports.5. Communicates with parents through conferences and other means such as newsletters, email, phone calls, studentinformation system postings (as applicable), web pages, blogs, and other electronic means to discuss student’sprogress as it relates to curriculum.6. Identifies student needs and cooperates with other professional staff members to help students assess and benefit fromthe district curriculum.7. Creates an effective learning environment through a variety of learning tools.8. Continues professional growth through various means such as professional learning communities, conferences,workshops, professional memberships and readings, etc.9. Selects and budgets books, instructional supplies, equipment and technology based on best practices aligned with thedistrict curriculum.10. Administers standardized and common assessments in accordance with district and state assessment schedules.11. Participates in professional development in order to advance the vision and mission of the district.12. Regular participation on school and/or district committees is strongly encouraged.13. Regularly utilizes student data to inform instruction.14. Maintains technological proficiency for purposes of instruction, reporting and communicating.15. Varies instructional techniques to address individual learning styles.16. Facilitates critical thinking, problem solving and creativity skills.17. Advances the vision, the mission and school improvement efforts of the school district.18. Participates in parent conferences, open houses, and other required school events based on the responsibilities of theassigned position.19. Other job-related duties as assigned by the Building Leader.
