NANA Regional Corporation Sheet Metal Fabricator, Architectural - Big Lake, AK in Big Lake, Alaska

Job Description

Summary

Fabricate, assemble, install, and repair sheet metal products trim. Install cladding/paneling. Use sealants to ensure weather proof applications.

Responsibilities

  • Develops plan and sequence of operations.

  • Installs insulated and non insulated wall panels and trim packages.

  • Locates and marks bending and cutting lines onto work.

  • Sets up and operates fabricating machines, such as brakes, rolls, shears, and drill presses.

  • Ability to work with power tools and follow site guidelines regarding safety.

  • Designs and constructs templates

  • Verifies conformance of projects to specifications.

  • Maintains material and inventory.

  • Assemble and fit parts using power and hand tools.

  • Frequently operate on scaffolding and out of aerial lifts.

  • Immediately report all Incidents/Accidents, no matter how small, to their Supervisor.

  • This position has no supervisory responsibilities.

  • Other duties that are pertinent to the department or unit’s success also may be assigned.

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or GED equivalent or ten (10) years related experience will be considered.

  • Minimum two (2) years directly related fabrication experience.

  • Alaska Painters Certification preferred.

  • Driver’s License and an acceptable driving record for the past three (3) years to be eligible under company vehicle insurance policy preferred.

While performing the duties of this Job, the employee is regularly exposed to airborne particles and outdoor weather conditions. The employee is frequently exposed to wet or humid conditions; extreme cold; extreme heat; risk of radiation and vibration. The employee is occasionally exposed to work near moving mechanical parts; work in high, precarious places; toxic or caustic chemicals and risk of electrical shock. The noise level in the work environment is usually very loud.

The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include Close vision, Distance vision, Peripheral vision, Depth perception and Ability to adjust focus. While performing the duties of this Job, the employee is regularly required to use hands to finger, handle, or feel and reach with hands and arms. The employee is frequently required to stand; walk; climb or balance; stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl and talk or hear. The employee is occasionally required to sit and taste or smell. Steel toed boots required on the job.

Competencies

Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals, write routine reports and correspondence, speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organization. Participate in daily tool box meetings by either offering productive feedback and occasionally leading the meeting.

Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals, compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.

Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form, deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.

Be willing to learn as well as mentor others in regards to work task completion. Committed to keeping one self and those around safe at all times, including stopping work if unsafe conditions arise.

Be able and willing to perform other duties and job functions. Often times other work crews will need assistance which requires all employees that are available to assist these other job functions to achieve successful project completion.
