Hours per Pay Period: 1.00 = 80 hours (Non-Exempt)
Starting Wage DOE: $34.41 - 40.43
The incumbent in this position is responsible for providing leadership to the Computed Tomography Technologists, assisting and supporting the leadership team in coordinating the day-to-day operational activities for the computed tomography services. Leadership duties include but are not limited to orienting and training staff, including the documentation of competencies, providing exposure to and instruction in CT to the Radiologic Technologist program students, assisting with the scheduling of staff, acting as a resource to staff, responding to questions and assisting with problem resolution. The Lead CT Technologist provides input and feedback into the interviewing and performance appraisal processes and will be primarily responsible for pursuing and maintaining an accredited CT program. The Lead CT Technologist is also responsible for performing diagnostic imaging services in the specialty of Computed Tomography and will anticipate and evaluate new technologies as they emerge in the specialty. The Lead CT Technologist shall be responsible for the maintenance of the protocol/procedure book. The incumbent shall operate a variety of equipment to produce images of the patient’s body for diagnostic purposes. Interviews patients, explains procedures, performs venipuncture for the administration of IV contrast media, and positions the patient for procedures.

General Responsibilities

Lead Responsibilities
•Assists and supports the Supervisor and Director in coordinating the day-to-day operational activities associated with providing computed tomography services.
•Assigns the work of the CT Technologists engaged in the day-to-day operations, taking into consideration the priority of the work and the skills of the employee, and workflow of the department.
•Acts as a resource to staff responding to procedural questions and assisting with problem resolution. Acts as a resource for CT equipment, advances in technology, ancillary equipment, and new applications.
•Participates in and provides feedback into the interviewing and performance appraisal processes.
•Coordinates department orientation for new technologists, provides on-going training/education for existing staff, monitors staff annual education requirements and competencies and supports the College Of Technology (COT) Radiologic Technologist program.
•Investigates and responds to interdepartmental and intradepartmental and patient complaints.
•Works with the Radiation Safety Officer to ensure that all federal and state regulations and guidelines are being followed.
•Contributes to the effective management of the department by gathering data regarding personnel, supplies and equipment needs in order to provide input into the development of radiology policies, procedures, short and long term goals and objectives for departmental planning.
•Assigns staff to maintain quality assurance records; performing quality assurance monitors by reviewing randomly selected charts for documentation requirements.
•Evaluates equipment and orders repair when needed.
•Evaluates new equipment being considered for purchase.
•Acts as a professional liaison for the modality of CT for visiting facilities.
Computed Tomography Technologist Duties
•Calibrates equipment and reviews general maintenance needs.
•Performs clinical assessment and computed tomography exams as ordered by the physician. Interviews patient, explains examination procedures and process, positions the patient, performs venipuncture, and administers contrast media.
•Reviews and/or provides patient history and previous scans (if any) with the radiologists.
•Uses cognitive CT skills to identify, record and adapt procedures as appropriate to anatomical, pathological, diagnostic information and images. Coordinates with other staff to ensure appropriate patient care is provided. Performs CT scans entering data such as type of scan requested, slice thickness, resolution and other technical data.
•Analyzes exams, synthesizes CT information, medical history, and utilizes independent judgment during the CT exam to accurately differentiate between normal and pathologic findings. Reviews exam with the radiologist when appropriate. •Communicates with attending and/or referring physicians as appropriate.
•Maintains CT scan records and patient records in accordance with Billings Clinic policies, procedures and standards.
•Assists physicians with cyst aspirations, biopsies and abscess drainages.
•Coordinates scheduling, transportation and scanning of patients.
•Maintains competency in all organizational, departmental and outside agency environmental, employee or patient safety standards relevant to job performance. Complies with general training required by Billings Clinic as well as specific training requirements of the position.
•Performs other duties as assigned or needed to meet the needs of the department/organization.
Minimum Qualifications

Experience
•Minimum six (6) months experience in CT
Certifications and Licenses
•Advanced certification with the ARRT in CT must be obtained within six (6) months of employment in the position
•Health care provider CPR certification
• Registered with the American Registry of Radiological Technologists
