Guthrie Coordinator, EMS Training - Community Services - Full Time in Binghamton, New York

Position Summary:

The Coordinator has direct responsibilities for the management and administrative functions for the Emergency Medical Health Services. The role is responsible for the assessment, implementation, oversight, and expansion of specific education programs that are offered both within the Guthrie System and the surrounding communities. Learning theories are utilized when formulating and implementing educational programs/activities for staff, clients, and the community. The Coordinator is self‐directed in maintaining competencies; is self‐motivated in identifying own strengths and limitations; and seeks to improve areas of weakness. The Coordinator is administratively responsible for the supervision of all instructors and will work in collaboration with all levels of management, staff, clients, and community. The Coordinator will oversee the Community Training Centers daily activities while ensuring compliance with all guidelines for a variety of trainings.

Education, License & Cert:

An Associate’s Degree in a related field (Nursing, Education, Health Sciences, Human Services, etc) is preferred for the Coordinator.

Experience:

A minimum of five years’ experience as an Instructor or three years of EMT; Paramedic; Nursing; or higher level of field experience. Demonstrate abilities in leadership, project management, quality improvement tools and processes, teaching, and the ability to function in a team setting as a facilitator.

Essential Functions:

A. Administration

  1. Coordinates the development, implementation, and scheduling of Training Programs needed by Guthrie employees and the communities Guthrie services.

    1. Serves as the Coordinator of the Community Training center as required by the American Heart Association.
  2. Maintains a cadre of certified Instructors needed to conduct varied training programs in New York and Pennsylvania. 4. Supervises offered trainings throughout Guthrie and the Community.

  3. Maintains a relationship with all hospitals in the region and departments within Guthrie to permit clinical scheduling for personnel.

  4. Assures that accreditation processes are completed and maintained for continuing education agencies.

  5. Acts as liaison to accredited training agencies when facilitating their trainings.

  6. Assure that all documentation for programs is complete, accurate, and maintained per each curriculum’s standards.

  7. Submit reports as required by the Department, Guthrie, and Accrediting Agencies.

  8. Responsible for budget preparation, resource allocation and strives to meet budgetary targets.

  9. Anticipates, monitors, and adjusts human and material resources appropriate to class needs.

  10. Conduct ongoing and by‐annual evaluation of instructors.

B. Education/Professional Development

  1. Organizes, conducts, and evaluates continuing education programs for Guthrie staff and the community.

  2. Assist in the assessment, maintenance, and development of staff competencies as necessary or requested.

  3. Assist in appropriate multidisciplinary education with the hospital and community by being a planner of and/or participant in professional programs.

  4. Oversee the maintenance of educational program and activity records within the department.

  5. Serves as a role model for professional communication skills during interaction with others.

  6. Develop and coordinate educational workshops for instructors to present new concepts, equipment recommendation, updated curriculum, etc.

  7. Maintain adequate inventory of training equipment needed to conduct all certification courses.

C. Research

  1. Keeps informed of current advancements in the curriculums being presented through the department.

  2. Translate research into practice to enhance instructors’ understanding.

Pay range for position - min $22/hr max $35/hr
