Broome-Tioga BOCES Part-Time Instructional Support Specialist - ELA & Literacy (10 Month) in Binghamton, New York

10 Month Position - 17 hours per week

MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Collaborate with members of the Professional Learning and Innovation Center and district administration in the design of regional and district-based ELA/literacy professional learning

  • Provide district-based ELA/literacy professional learning and coaching for participating districts (Grades PK-6)

  • Facilitate targeted, district-based professional learning, including, but not limited to :

  • Providing feedback to teachers in an ongoing coaching cycle of conversation around literacy assessment and using data to support teachers with identifying interventions to meet specific student needs

  • Modeling effective intervention delivery

  • Facilitate data team meetings using relevant data to assist teachers in designing instruction for impact on student literacy achievement

  • Participating in district-based team meetings with teachers and administrators regarding systems components that impact achievement (assessment and data systems, communication and collaboration strategies, scheduling for access to instruction, and purposeful use of resources)

  • Supporting district administration in their implementation of systems that support all learners

  • Access current research and best practices to integrate into professional learning experiences

  • Work in conjunction with the grant coordinator to monitor grant implementation activities in assigned districts and grant deliverables including objectives, activities and outcomes.

  • Collaborate with school and district leaders and student support teams to; implement systems for data collection around literacy using a regionally standardized data set and collection methodology.

  • Collaborate with key stakeholders, including the District Equity in Literacy team, to determine implementation plans for individual school district(s) and ensure equitable access for students and families.

  • Work with building and district leaders to ensure access to the literacy clinic: scheduling, referral and staffing coordination with district leadership

Job Qualifications

REQUIRED MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  • NYS Teaching Certification – Elementary, Special Education, or ELA/ Literacy

    Preferred Additional Qualifications:

  • At least five years of successful classroom teaching experience

  • Experience providing professional learning coaching
