The Senior Program Manager will work within the leadership team of the Office of Entrepreneurship & Innovation Partnerships (EIP) to support administrative management of innovation, incubator, and accelerator programs. EIP supports a growing portfolio of high-tech startup companies, with a focus on the clean energy and energy storage space, including programs under the New Energy New York (NENY) initiative. Working collaboratively with a dynamic, cross-functional team, the Senior Program Manager will provide administrative management for innovation programs, including recruitment of applicants, communication with stakeholders, program promotion, and impact and metric tracking, evaluation, and reporting.

Responsibilities:

  • Work with EIP leadership to support the development of overarching strategic plans, detailed implementation plans and schedules, startup recruitment strategies, and impact and metrics evaluation plans for select innovation programs.

  • Coordinate between EIP leadership, program sponsor representatives, and external programmatic partners.

  • Support the design and delivery of startup accelerator and entrepreneurship training programming, including associated curricula, promotion plans, operational procedures, and management of resources, as well as one-on-one company engagement.

  • Develop strategies and provide oversight for recruitment, selection, and onboarding of program client startup companies, focusing on pipeline development, application and database establishment, and evaluation procedures.

  • Oversee the creation, execution, and evaluation of outreach and recruitment strategies for the program, with support of the EIP marketing and communications team.

  • Working with EIP support staff, oversee maintenance of organized databases of recruitment pipelines, program events, partner and relevant stakeholder contacts and engagements, and program and client startup reporting and metrics.

  • Develop deep knowledge of innovation programs to communicate program objectives, features, eligibility, processes, and impacts to prospective and current client startups, as well as internal and external partners and stakeholders.

  • Become familiar and coordinate existing and new internal and external startup support resources, such as Entrepreneur-In-Residence (EIR) services, subject matter experts, service providers, and funding opportunities to assist with business and technology development of client startups.

  • Mentor and assist client companies with preparing for investor presentations, as well as with applications for grant and other non-dilutive funding.

  • Work with supporting team to schedule and organize relevant events, such as program workshops, conferences, high-impact investment showcases, and convenings to engage regional community and external innovation and industry stakeholders.

  • Support monitoring of relevant program budget and financial planning, while ensuring compliance with financial policies and procedures for handling funds.

  • Represent programs externally and build relationships with relevant internal and external partners and stakeholders, including with industry experts and investors, supporting the growth of the EIP and incubator network of referral partners and funders.

  • Develop and support frameworks for program metric collection, evaluation, and reporting.

    Job Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree with 3+ years of program management, business incubation, technology commercialization, or high-tech entrepreneurship experience.

  • Strong verbal and written communication skills, excellent interpersonal and organizational skills, knowledge of business management principles, budget formulation and financial management.

  • The ability to work collaboratively with a variety of constituents and organizations is required.

  • Strong organizational, time management, and prioritization skills with great attention to detail.

  • Experience using Google Suite, Zoom, Calendly, Microsoft Office

  • Proficient with program and client management tools.

Preferred Skills, Knowledge & Experience:

  • MBA or similar, or advanced degree in physical sciences or engineering.

  • Strong candidates will have experience working with startups or as a founder, impact investing, venture capital, or at an early-stage, high-growth organization.

  • Experience in clean energy, battery, or energy storage industry.

  • Experience working with universities, for example through licensing of technologies, subcontracts, consulting, etc.

  • Strong network of strategic partners to provide resources such as mentoring, training, consulting, venture capital, and business opportunities.

    Additional Information:

Salary: $90,000 - $100,000 Annually. Note: This is for a one year appointment renewable based on successful performance and availability of funding.
