Amergis RN | Mental Health | 13 Week Travel Assignment in Birmingham, Alabama

Amergis Healthcare Staffing is searching for a full time Travel Registered Nurse for a client located in Tuscaloosa, Alabama. One year of experience as a Registered Nurse in a Psychiatric setting. Schedule Needs:

  • 300P-1100P and/or 1100P-700A M-F (8hrs)

  • 700A-700P or 700P-700A Every 3rd Weekend (12hrs)

rotating third weekend is determined by initial schedule placement

  • Holidays as needed

  • As determined based upon patient needs

  • OT may be possible on an as needed basis

Requirements: (to include, but not limited to)

• An active, unrestricted Alabama state RN license or compact state license

• CPR/BLS certified

• A minimum of 1 year experience, within a dedicated mental health or psychiatric setting

• Knowledge, skills, and ability to recognize medical and psychiatric emergencies.

• Ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing.

• Ability to interact with various types of people in delicate, frustrating, or tense situations.

• Ability to make independent decisions and take moderate risks in situations not covered by existing procedure.

• Ability to provide care utilizing nursing processes, standards of care, and nursing plans of care.

• Ability to supervise the work of others.

• Ability to evaluate the effectiveness of treatment and training programs and establish priorities.

• Ability to operate medical equipment.

• Ability to provide education to patients.

Responsibilities: (to include, but not limited to)

• Promotes a program environment conducive to patient stabilization and growth.

• Completes assessments of patients.

• Plans an effective therapeutic program for patients.

• Develops and implements patient care plans.

• Supervises the program staff.

• Demonstrates appropriate communication with patients and families.

• Monitors the environment for safety.

• Communicates patient data to appropriate team members.

• Participates in meetings, staff development trainings, and continuing education opportunities as required.

• Administers medication and treatment as prescribed.

• Provides basic direct patient care.

• Ensures compliance with hospital standards.

Competencies: (to include, but not limited to)

• Working knowledge of medical terminology and patient care

• Strong Organization and time management skills with the ability to multi-task

• Detail-oriented with superior follow through sills

• Ability to interact with all levels of personnel

• Excellent verbal & written communication skills

• Strong computer skills; proficient in Word, PowerPoint and Excel

• Strong data entry skills; must have speed and accuracy
