PRIMARY JOB FUNCTION:

To administer/assist direct personal care to the tenant.

QUALIFICATIONS:

• Certified Nursing Assistant
• CPR certification preferred
• HS diploma or equivalency preferred
• Must be 18 years of age or older

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

1. Must have the ability to read, write, verbalize and understand English well enough to receive oral and/or written instructions, communicate successfully with tenants and coworkers and complete documentation on a permanent medical record.
2. Must have visual acuity sufficient for reading assignments, charting, thermometers; must be able to document tenants cares through utilizing the electronic medical record system to input data
3. Must have hearing acuity sufficient to allow communication and monitoring with tenants and coworkers. Should be able to use the telephone.
4. Must be flexible and be able to adapt to changes in procedures and willing to accept changes in hours and assignments as the need arises.
5. Must work cooperatively with coworkers demonstrating a flexible and positive manner, as well as a willingness to help each other when interacting in the work environment.
6. Must be able to stand and walk, as well as use hand/fingers, handle or feel and reach with hands and arms frequently in your assigned shift to complete duties of this position.
7. Must demonstrate a patient and caring manner when working with tenants and coworkers, willing to accept and learn from constructive criticism and refraining from being disruptive to the work environment.
8. Must be punctual and dependable in reporting to work as scheduled.
9. Must be able to stand and walk frequently throughout your assigned shift in order to fulfill the responsibility or organizing and performing direct care for tenants including communication with them, personal hygiene, dressing, responding to call lights and pendants.
10. Responsible to provide a safe environment for tenants and coworkers by following all established safety policies and procedures including:
11. Awareness of chemical products used an material safety data sheets (MSDS)
12. Proper use of universal precautions and infection control policies including good hand washing techniques and use of personal protective equipment (PEE) i.e. Googles, masks, gloves and gowns.
13. Awareness of Voluntary Protection Program (VPP) and Risk Management/Safety Program and will adhere to established policies and procedures within the nursing department and facility wide with regards to job performance and safe operating procedures.
14. Must respect and uphold tenant rights in all regards including confidentiality of tenant information and refrain from any action that would be considered abusive physically, emotionally or verbally.
15. Will keep written notes and record pertinent tenant information on the tenants permanent record and report to the nurse.
16. Will provide privacy appropriate for the situation during cares and procedures. This will include knocking on the doors to the tenants apartments and waiting for response before entering and identifying who you are and your purpose.
17. Demonstrates Missouri Slope customer service standards of excellence.

OTHER JOB FUNCTIONS

• Will assist in serving meals when needed.
• Will assist with scheduled activities when needed.

WORKING CONDITIONS

A 64-apartment facility that is well-lit and well-ventilated with carpeted or vinyl floors.
