Western Area Power Administration High Voltage Electrician Leader (Foreman II Lineman) in Bismarck, North Dakota

Summary As a High Voltage Electrician Leader (Foreman II Lineman), you will provide leadership and direction for a crew of trade and craft employees ranging in experience and expertise from entry level trainee to fully competent skilled journeymen in the operation and maintenance functions of high-voltage substations, transmission lines, associated facilities and equipment. *This is not a remote position. The selectee will be required to be physically present at the duty location identified. Responsibilities As a High Voltage Electrician Leader (Foreman II Lineman), some of your duties will include: Collaborate with supervisors, develop weekly, monthly, and annual work schedules. Develop regular work plans. Develop plans for emergency actions designed to minimize power outages due to equipment failures or scheduled maintenance work. Identify and maintain inventory of supplies, materials, and equipment spare parts. Participate in the development of annual cost and budget forecasts by identifying needs for major repairs, additions, replacements, and/or upgrades of equipment, materials, personnel, training, and other operation and maintenance needs used to perform maintenance, provide this information to supervisors, and use this information in the planning and scheduling of work. Ability to read, draft, create documents on Excel, Microsoft Word, Adobe, SharePoint, and emails. Requirements Conditions of Employment Must be a U.S. Citizen or National. If selected for this position, your appointment is contingent upon completion of OF- 306, Declaration for Federal Employment, during the pre-employment process. If selected, you will be required to complete a questionnaire and are subject to a criminal background check to determine suitability for Federal employment before appointment. Upon reporting, and annually thereafter, the selectee may be required to file one or more financial statements and/or a procurement integrity certification. These certifications may be subject to public disclosure. Personal maximum weight may not exceed 280 pounds at time of appointment. Personal weight will be determined at the time of physical examination and final job offer will be contingent upon verification that individual's weight does not exceed this amount. You will be required to have a physical examination (at Federal expense) that will determine whether you are qualified to perform the duties of the position. An offer of employment will depend upon your successfully passing the physical examination. You must test negative for illegal drugs before placement in the position, and will be subject to random drug testing thereafter. If a determination of the use of illegal drugs is confirmed, non-selection or disciplinary action, up to and including removal from Federal service, may result. Incumbent is required to drive a government vehicle and must have a valid State driver's license, and obtain and maintain a Defensive Driver's certification. Defensive Driver's certification will be provided upon employment. The incumbent must be able to obtain and maintain a Class A Commercial Driver's License (CDL) to operate vehicles of more than 26,000 pounds GVWR. The hiring organization will work with you on obtaining your CDL. This must be obtained within 120 days of employment. You will be required to possess a pair of fully-encased safety-toed footwear meeting the standard ASTM F 2413-05 upon reporting to work. Incumbent must wear Personal Protective equipment as required. Qualifications Qualifications: You must have journeyman-level ability in the duties of an High Voltage Electrician Leader (Foreman II Lineman). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. PHYSICAL EFFORT: Work is under conditions of high conditions of high physical demand related to climbing. Frequently required to lift items weighing over 50 pounds in order to install, inspect, and/or repair transmission lines. Climb and work aloft on structures. Work at ground level and in ground trenches where work requires bending, stooping, climbing, and standing for long periods. Coordination of eyes, hands, legs, and body is needed in installing and repairing equipment in confined spaces and on overhead structures. WORKING CONDITIONS: Majority of work takes place outside. Incumbent is subject to hazardous materials and extreme weather conditions. Work is in close proximity to high voltage lines and equipment. Work requires climbing transmission structures averaging 65 feet, but up to 500 feet on occasion, and communication towers up to 400 feet. Subject to potential for injury by contact with high voltage lines, broken bones in falls from poles or structures, muscle strains from awkward positions, and cuts and bruises when handling tools and materials. Position may require accredited nationally recognized crane certification for fixed and swing boom certification. Education There is no education requirement for this position.
