Position Title: Student Intern - Engineering (Civil/Structural) (Summer 2025)

Position Purpose:
Assists engineers in the Civil/Structural Engineering section as they conduct engineering activities. Under the direction and supervision of a Registered Professional Engineer, completes a variety of tasks in the field and in the office. This position typically works 40-50 hours per week.
Essential Functions:
Assist with the design of earthwork, roads, and pavements, structural steel, reinforced concrete, and foundations.
Assist with the development of computer models.
Assist with the preparation of design drawings and specifications.
Assist with the review of shop drawings and submittals.
Assist with construction material tracking.
Assist with field construction observations such as rebar placement.
Perform field verification of existing and newly constructed as-built conditions and subsequent drawing updates.
Qualifications :
Enrolled as a full-time student in a four-year Engineering Accreditation Commission/Accreditation Board for Engineering and Technology (EAC/ABET) civil engineering program with completion of sophomore year.
At least 18 years of age.
A minimum of a 2.5 grade point average, preferred.
Good verbal and written communication skills.
Good interpersonal and organization skills
Proficient with Microsoft Excel, Word, and Outlook and personal computers.
Able to work as part of a team.
A valid driver’s license.

Typical Physical/Mental/Environmental Demands:
This position requires frequent sitting, and standing/walking; and occasional reaching below and above shoulder level, use of keyboard/computer, bending/reaching, kneeling, lifting/carring up to 50 pounds, and pushing/pulling up to 20 pounds. It also requires finger dexterity and hand coordination. This position occasionally may work in conditions of dirt/dust, fumes, chemicals, extreme heat/cold, vibration, noise, poor ventilation, electrical risks, and confined areas. This position requires good hearing and vision, and the ability to speak. It also requires the ability to develop plans, procedures and goals; present information to others; and work under stress to complete projects within deadlines. This position must be respirator qualified. Travel approximately 75% via motor vehicle or plane.
Wage: $26 per hour
