State Hospital South (SHS) is looking for one temporary part-timeDietary Aide Senior to assist in setting up serving lines, portioning food items, delivering meals, and maintaining a clean and sanitized dining and kitchen area. Located inBlackfoot, Idaho, SHS provides psychiatric inpatient treatment and skilled nursing care for the state’s adult citizens with the most serious and persistent mental illnesses. The hospital works in partnership with families and communities to enable clients to return to community living. In this role, you will play a crucial part in ensuring our patients receive nutritious meals in a safe and welcoming environment.

This announcement may be used to fill full-time, part-time, and temporary positions. Temporary positions are limited to working 1,385 hours in a 12-month period for any one state agency. Employees are eligible for benefits if they work twenty (20) hours or more per week and the term of employment is expected to exceed five (5) continuous months.

Schedule: 3-10's for part time. Sun-Sat, including holidays.

This position is not eligible for telework.

    EXAMPLE OF DUTIES:

  • Prepares food; sets up, portions and delivers meals.

  • Keeps dining areas stocked and clean for client use.

  • Prepares salads, fresh vegetables and fruit, beverages, snacks, juice and salad dressings.

  • Cleans, cuts, chops, dices, slices, and purees foods and slices and portions breads, cakes and pies.

  • Operates appliances and makes sandwiches, prepares sack lunches, and assists cooks.

  • Sets up dining areas and salad bar, portions food on serving line, and weighs and measures food for special diets.

  • Cleans and sanitizes the kitchen, dining and storage areas, and utensils and equipment.

    MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

    You must possess all the minimum qualifications below to pass the exam for this position.   • Good knowledge of sanitation and safety practices used in food handling.

  • Good knowledge of equipment and devices (appliances) used in food preparation.

  • Experience operating and cleaning kitchen equipment.

  • Experience cleaning and sanitizing kitchen areas.

The minimum qualifications are typically gained by:

  • At least 3 months of work experience in fast-food restaurant, using, cleaning, and sanitizing kitchen areas and equipmentOR at least 3 months of work experience in an institution such as a school, hospital, or nursing home, using, cleaning, and sanitizing kitchen areas and equipment.

  • On-the-job training for food service safetyORattended an 8-hour course (in-service training) or seminar on food service safety (this is not the same as on-the-job training) ORcompleted college, or vocational, food handling course or military food service training.

    Below is preferred experience. It is not required for the position but applicants with this experience may receive consideration over other applicants.

  • Individual to have a working knowledge of sanitation procedures and be able to follow food safety regulations at all timestypically gained by at 6-month experience and / or with Idaho Food Handler's certification.
