Spudnik Fabrication Supervisor (Day shift) in Blackfoot, Idaho
POSITION: Fabrication Supervisor SHIFT: Day Shift-Monday-Friday 7:00-5:30 LOCATION: Blackfoot, Idaho Job Summary The Fabrication Supervisor provides support to Department Manager on the production of equipment, movement of materials, allocation and organization of resources, development of personnel, and achievement of departmental and organizational goals. The supervisor actively monitors and manages employee activity and performance, providing counseling and coaching as needed. Additionally, the Supervisor organizes, initiates, and sustains production processes and process improvements. The Supervisor will be available for extended hours where appropriate in order to respond to the needs of the build plan. Teamwork and customer service skills are important as supervisors are expected to work directly and indirectly with employees, other supervisors and managers, and outside vendors. Supervisors will consistently demonstrate high levels of responsibility and accountability. Essential Duties and Responsibilities Other duties and responsibilities may be assigned as necessary. • Work with Department Manager to establish and achieve department goals. • Coach and support Leads in achieving department goals. • Develop personnel by actively participating in hiring, training, performance management, coaching, disciplinary, and termination activities. • Be a technical expert on the operation and maintenance of department equipment and train team members on new products and techniques. • Educate team members on quality standards and ensure quality production standards are met while meeting build plan requirements. • Be a top performer in leadership, safety, and work ethics. • Demonstrate an excellent understanding of company operating procedures and policies with commitment to put them into practice. • Actively participate in department safety by conducting and coordinating meetings, training, and investigations. • Perform required administrative tasks, such as timekeeping, performance, and production documentation. • Assist Department Manager in identifying areas for process and procedure improvement and develop action plan for improvement. Qualifications • Minimum of three years’ experience supervising five or more people that includes hiring, firing, conducting disciplinary reviews, and coaching employees. • Experience reading instructional drawings and schematics. • Well-developed knowledge of processes, equipment, parts, systems, tools, and machinery required in equipment manufacturing and production. • Ability to successfully manage multiple projects and deadlines. • Excellent troubleshooting, critical thinking, and analytical skills. • Effective communication skills, both written and verbal. • Ability to effectively work with ERP system, spreadsheets, word processing documents, and other applicable computer systems and software. Machines Typically Operated • Basic clerical machines including computer, printer, adding machine, telephone, fax machine, etc. • Drill press, saw, grinder, hand tools, iron worker, shear, press brake, burn table, belt sander, overhead crane, forklift, etc. • Other machines or equipment specific to departmental or facility needs. TYPICAL PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS • Medium work involving: Climbing, Balancing, Stooping, Kneeling, Crouching, Crawling, Reaching, Standing, Walking, Pushing, Pulling, Hearing, Talking, Grasping, Feeling, Handling, Repetitive motions, Small Motor Skills, Visual Acuity, Lifting (Up to 50 lbs) TYPICAL ENVIRONMENTAL CONDITIONS Worker is subject to inside environmental conditions. May have temperature changes due to working inside a shop. There is sufficient noise to cause the worker to shout in order to be heard above the ambient noise level. Includes a variety of physical conditions such as proximity to moving mechanical parts, electrical current, working on scaffolding and high places. One or more of the following conditions that affect the respiratory system or the skin: Fumes, odors, dust mists, gases or poor ventilation.
