The Otis Service Center in Bloomfield, Connecticut is seeking an energetic Material Analyst to support the repair and manufacturing business in the Electronic Shop. As a Material Analyst you will play a pivotal role in the production and repair process of Key elevator components and Elevator Management Systems(EMS). This role allows you to collaborate with various cross functional teams to ensure efficient production scheduling, material procurement and adherence to quality standards. This position is for a 7:30 am to 4:00 pm shift and is an onsite position at OSC.

Essential Responsibilities

This position offers a great opportunity to get insight into the business by working with various departments and being exposed to a wide variety of topics. Roles and responsibilities can expand over time. Assigned Duties include but are not limited to:

  • Develop comprehensive plans for manufacturing elevator parts considering factors such as production capacity, lead times, and resource availability.

  • Coordinate with Supply Chain to ensure the timely acquisition of components required for repairing and manufacturing parts.

  • Identify potential supply chain risks and develop contingency plans to mitigate disruptions.

  • Ensure availability of WIP and limit excess inventory

  • Coordinate inventory requests with both Planning and warehouse.

  • Create repair requisitions and build Purchase Orders (PO’s) for items in the repair program.

  • Support ongoing internal projects such as Inventory Reduction and Obsolescence.

  • Generate and manage Purchase Orders, prioritize tasks, and allocate resources effectively to meet production schedules in the SDC and JDE.

  • Managing WIP (Work in Progress) inventory with field requests for returns.

  • Continuously monitor and adjust production schedules to optimize workflow, minimize downtime, and maximize efficiency.

  • Work closely with Customer service, Quality, Engineering and Supply Chain.

  • Identify opportunities for process optimization, cost reduction, lead time reduction, and implement continuous improvement initiatives.

  • Manage department metrics and goals.

  • Requires data manipulation in various software packages such as SDC, Microsoft Word, Excel, Access, etc.

  • Follows safety rules, practices, and other safety requirements for all projects.

  • All personnel may be required to perform duties outside of their normal responsibilities from time to time, as required.

  • Must comply with all EH&S policies and procedures.

  • Participate in annual inventory.

Qualifications/Requirements:

The ideal candidate should be well-spoken with a professional demeanor and strong customer service and computer skills. Bachelor's degree (BA/BS) from four-year college or university; or 1-3 years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

In addition, the successful candidate:

  • Must be a self-starter with strong communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills.

  • Ability to function well in a fast paced, high-pressure environment while maintaining a positive attitude.

  • Ability and willingness to learn technical aspects & processes (reading Engineering drawings and understanding part usage).

  • Excellent interpersonal, customer service and communication skills.

  • Ability to balance the needs of the Customer and the business when making decisions.

  • Read, interpret, and transcribe data to maintain accurate records.

  • Ability to communicate effectively with multiple departments pertaining to Purchase Order deliveries and having supplier’s questions answered.

Physical Demand:

  • Ability to lift 50 lbs. If an item weighs more than 50 lbs., the employee must ask for assistance in lifting and/or use the appropriate crane, forklift or other lifting devices.

  • Walking, balancing, climbing, standing, twisting/turning, bending/stooping, crawling, crouching, kneeling/squatting, sitting, reaching above shoulder height, reaching forward, lifting (maximum 50 pounds), carrying, pushing/pulling, handling, feeling, digital dexterity, wrist flexion/extension, power grip, working speed, talking, hearing, seeing (with color vision) depth perception.

  • Must be able to wear/use the appropriate Personal Protective Equipment.
