ReSound Automation Project Engineer in Bloomington, Minnesota

Position Overview

The Automation Project Engineer leads NA Automation projects. This role should, under limited supervision and minimal technical guidance, identify and integrate automated processes and work cells to drive cost savings and quality improvement opportunities. Skills in developing automated solutions independently, as well as partnering with external integration partners are both critical to success in this role. Additionally, collaboration with stakeholders throughout the enterprise is critical to help drive the adoption and sustainability of all automation.

  • Plan, delegate, and execute tasks and priorities within all automation process design within a given project (ie. Cell layout, schematics, PLC interface, mechanical design, equipment/hardware selection, vision or robot programming, wiring, and assembly)

  • Develop project timelines and budgets with milestone dates for completion of work. Justify capital equipment purchases, as necessary.

  • Coordinate with internal resources and customers to ensure project is completed according to schedule and according to our Company methodology

  • Record keeping and documentation related to risk assessment, machine operation, maintenance, and support/troubleshooting.

  • Provide hands-on electrical, mechanical, and programming support necessary to keep all Company equipment in good working order.

  • Write project reports, memoranda, and correspondence detailing project status and issues

  • Provide training and coaching, as needed, to other technical stakeholders to build automation competencies within the organization.

  • Proactively identify cost savings and quality improvement opportunities for continued deployment and integration of automated solutions

  • Lead and execute equipment deployment at other sites, as necessary

  • Identify, develop, and implement required modifications to support business changes throughout the lifespan of installed equipment.

  • Provide technical assistance and hands-on problem resolutions.

  • Collaborate with the key stakeholders to develop and execute equipment validation consistent with Company methodology.

  • Liaison between other technical experts & business users on project scopes and cross-functional dependencies

  • Train production staff, as needed, for success deployment, operation, maintenance, and troubleshooting of all equipment.

  • Other duties as assigned.

  • Highly proficient working knowledge of a variety of electronic and pneumatic sensors and controls

Desired Qualifications

Required Education:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in a related engineering field.

Experience:

  • 3 or more years of automation/manufacturing experience with demonstrated ability to execute project deliverables that meet scheduling and cost requirements.

  • 3 or more years of experience with, or a combination of, electrical controls, PLC interfaces, robotics, vision systems, and mechanical design for automated work cells.

  • 2 or more years of Project management experience preferred.

  • Travel: This position may require limited travel for new organization equipment launch and direct knowledge sharing with enterprise stakeholders.

Working Environment:

Our facility is in Bloomington, MN.

The position will be working in the Operations area.

Physical Demands:

Able to stand or sit for long periods of time.

Able to lift 25 pounds by self and 50+ pounds with a team lift. (i.e. Sitting, standing, lifting, bending, reaching, etc.)

Position Type and Expected Hours of Work:

This is a full-time position working Monday – Friday. The daily hours are 8-10 hours per day.

Ability to work occasional weekends and holidays
