As an Installation Technician, typically working Monday-Friday 7am-3:30pm, you will build various types of vocational trucks through assembly, hydraulic, 12v electrical and fabrication skills. Builds are designed and communicated via project managers through meetings, job tasks, drawings, SOPs (Standards Operating Procedures) and quality inspection processes. On-the-job and factory training will be provided to help you be successful in this exciting role.This position will be located at the Bloomington, MN branch for Aspen Equipment and reports to the Operations Manager.*Candidates hired for this role will receive a $3,500 sign-on bonus, payable after 90 days continuous service.ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:Build vocational trucks through assembly, hydraulic 12v electric and fabrication skillsAssemblyRead blueprints, diagrams and instructionsFollow installation procedures and established standardsAttend pre-install meetingsAccurately read required measuring tools (caliper, tape measure, square, etc.)HydraulicRead hydraulic schematicsHose and fitting assembly, routing and plumbingPressure setting and testing12v ElectricalRead electric schematicsWire harness assembly, routing and terminatingSystem setup and testingFabrication and welding (minor)Weld in various positions: vertical, flat, overhead, etc.Use appropriate settings on welder for proper metal thicknessUse welding blankets on truck cab & windowsClean weld spatter and welding slagAluminum weldingBuild things square and to proper size per diagramsPerform minor welding required for assemblyWeld in various positions: vertical, flat, overhead, etc.Use appropriate settings on welder for proper metal thicknessUse welding blankets on truck cab & windowsClean weld spatter and welding slagAluminum weldingForm metals for use on truck equipment installationsUtilize various power tools as needed for buildsDrill, impact wrench, air ratchet, grinders, iron worker, etc.Utilize time tracking systemMake recommendations for changes in procedure or job functions that are conceived to be in the general interestPerform other job related duties assigned by managementJOB REQUIREMENTS:Strong mechanical aptitude technical understanding of hydraulics, electrical and primary functions of a broad range of equipment used in our industryKnowledge of basic hydraulics and 12-volt electrical systemsKnowledge of wiring stop/start systems and ability to use programmerKnowledge of sizes of fittings and hydraulic hosesAble to operate saw for cutting steelAble to operate plasma cutterAble to use oxygen/acetylene torchAbility to adjust pressures and reliefsBasic math skillsBasic welding and fabrication abilityAbility to read and understand electrical and hydraulic schematicsMechanical design and/or practical experience in hydraulics, structural or mechanical layoutHigh level of Mechanical Aptitude: Ability to understand fundamentals of mechanical systems as related to the commercial truck industryTechnical college degree desired, or structured on-the-job training program successfully completed2-5 years experience in field service of heavy equipment is desiredHEALTH & SAFETY REQUIREMENTS:Perform job functions in a safe manner.Wear all Personal Protective Equipment (P.P.E.) required by Company policy for the job being performed.Know and follow established job specific and facility wide safety and health procedures and rules.Actively participate in safety and health training and demonstrate competency based on training received.Bring safety and health issues, unsafe acts, and safety suggestions to managements attention or correct those you can.Have the abilityto obtain aDOT card.WORKING CONDITIONS:The physical demands described are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.
