Bi-County Services, Inc. Music Therapist (Rehabilitation) in Bluffton, Indiana

Position Summary: Implements and conducts music therapy programs in accordance with the Code of Ethics set forth by the American Music Therapy Association (AMTA) and the mission of Bi-County Services, Inc.

Essential Job Functions:

  • Implements proposed music therapy
  • Assesses consumer's strengths and needs in reference to music therapy and other disciplines.
  • Documents progress, attendance, and incident reports according to Bi-County policies.
  • Promotes the program's responsiveness to the needs and preferences of the consumer.
  • Orders and maintains instruments, supplies, and equipment.
  • Leads music therapy activities at flexible hours.
  • Initiates and implements outings and performances with groups.
  • Organizes music therapy program area.
  • Consults with co-workers to schedule music activities.
  • Ensures consumers have a safe environment to include free from abuse, neglect, exploitation and violation of rights.
  • Abides by professional standards set forth by the AMTA
  • Participates in staff development, in-service training and staff meetings, as required; maintains professional requirements.
  • Complies with agency Policies which include Employee Handbook and Code of Business Practices and Ethics.

  • Ability to apply basic math including addition, subtraction, multiplication, division, and calculation of money.
  • Ability to read technical literature and read and write reports and business letters.
  • Ability to effectively communicate with individuals having developmental disabilities, staff, and the public.
  • Ability to successfully pass training and remain certified in the following within 90 days of employment: First Aid/CPR, Medication Administration and Positive Intervention Techniques.

Educational Requirements:

  • Bachelor Degree in Music Therapy
  • Board Certified Music Therapist (MT-BC)
